Gaming Milestones in Your Life

A few early ones...

1975(?) - My first memory of video games as my parents had a Pong unit that played eight variations. I didn't like it because I couldn't understand it. To this day I'm still not entirely sure what Jai Lai is.

Xmas 1979 - Got the Atari 2600 as a present. It was immediately set up on a crappy spare TV, so crappy in fact that every time you passed the ball over the bonus score marker in Video Pinball, the TV let out a huge "BZZZZZT!" noise and the back lit up like it was about to explode. To my 7 year old brain, I thought this meant the Atari was so powerful that the TV could barely handle it.

1981 - Played Activision's Laser Blast from about 8:30am to 9pm. You could build up so many extra lives in the game that I just left the game playing while going to the bathroom or eating dinner.

1989- Played with my cousins NES find my true love for gaming. Want a NES :(
1992?- Played Super Mario World, Mario All-Stars. In love with my SNES.
1996- Played Mario 64. In awe with 3D gaming
199*- GoldenEye 64 :o
1997- Buy a PSX and am floored too.
2000- Dreamcast + Sonic Adventure makes me a Sega Fan.

1991ish - Dad brings home NES. Mario Bros. and Ice Hockey abound

After that it sort of faded away for a few years. I'd play my friends' Super Nintendos, but I never had one myself.

199_ - Nintendo 64 for birthday. Reignited gaming for me

199_ - Game Boy Pocket + Pokemon Red (you can do the math)

(can't remember the year) - Gamecube for birthday. Brought me fully into gaming, and it became more than just the thing I did when I was bored.

Same year - GBA takes handheld gaming up a notch

2004 - Xbox for my birthday. That plus my Gamecube and GBA brings me completely into uh, the gaming scene, I suppose.

Last weekend - Nintendo DS: Handheld gaming brought up another notch. Replaying the N64 classic I never owned myself (Mario)

I'm probably showing my age (and lack thereof) with some of that, but oh well. We'll see how that list goes for the next few months/years.

2005: Quits job, drops out of school, loses contact with all friends and family in order to have time for all the games he'd like to play.

2005 - Beat Halo 2 on Legendary. Seriously, I think I'm going to add that to my resume. :D

I was first engaged by Archon, Gateway to Apshi, and Zork (even though I sucked at it) on the 800xl.

Then I was captivated by Phantasy Star on the SMS.

Next came Ghouls 'N Ghosts (which I, believe it or not, completed).

On the SNES it was Link and then Prince of Persia that enthralled me.

I really liked Flashback: The Quest for Identity, The Incredible Machine, The Horde, Star Control II, Out of This World, and Return Fire on the 3do (yes I really paid $700 plus for it). But what got me by the shirt collar was The Need for Speed; this engrossed me like nothing else on Trip's bane...

That is until the Gran Turismo series… I have never played anything as much or as happily, before or since.

1986 - Dad brings home Super Mario Bros, ice climber and tennis as a rental. Can't stop playing. Later me and my brother get a NES for x-mas present.

1987 - Kid icarus. My third game, and the first game I ever bought by myself.

1987-1989
- Get Metroid, Zelda, Zelda II, Mario 2, Castlevania., etc

1989
- get a gameboy for x-mas with super mario land! Horaay.

1990 - buys a japanese adapter and a 4 in 1 japanese game cartridge with Super Mario Bros 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, Double Dragon 2 and Contra. I still have it today. Best cartridge ever!

1990 - Buys Rock Man 3 , Japanese.

1991 - Buys a genesis with Toe jam and earl, quackshot, sonic 2, altered beast, fantasia, strider, ea hockey etc.

1992 - buys a snes with super mario world bundled. The happieness is total.

1992 - 1995 FF6, super metroid, super punch out, super ghouls and ghosts, chronno trigger, secret of mana, zelda 3, stunt race fx, starfox are among many buys.

1996 - N64 with mario, and later oot etc.

And so on. I stop here.

I still got my old nes left with a collection of european and japanese nes games :)
