Konami Entertainment has been quite emphatic about retaining what made Metal Gear Solid 3 special while also bringing creative new flourishes to the table in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the highly anticipated remake of the original game. It can be tricky to balance what made the original game such a cult classic with features that appeal to a modern audience but Konami has largely seemed up to the task in its valiant effort.

From entirely different points of view while exploring levels to new ways to access your equipment, the studio has drawn on the best titles from its franchise to blend a visual overhaul with modern features that can be quite a "thrill" for both newcomers and veterans alike.

Naked Snake's iconic origin story could feel like a whole new game when the remake releases this August for current-gen platforms.

My main takeaway from this is the more recent footage that shows the game does in fact have object based motion blur, the last video I watched did not have that and subsequently looked absolutely arse.

The camo + codec QoL additions are excellent too.

Crazy how much it's upgraded yet looks the same

Yes, the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a landmark event. The first mainline Metal Gear game post-Kojima, and a remake of a timeless classic. Given shifting expectations of legacy remakes, and Konami's own self-made pressures following nearly a decade of fanbase alienation, the stakes are high for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater.

However, whether a success or a failure, Delta will prove to be a turning point for the series. It could prove a springboard for the series' future, or could eliminate one of the world's most iconic stealth franchises, plus once-storied developer Konami, to the dustbins.

For this reason, Konami are evidently taking a conservation-first approach - modern refreshment whilst maintaining a reverence to the source material. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be one of the biggest games of the year, whether positive or negative.

I haven't really given this game much attention, but I've said many times over the years how much I wanted MGS3 remade in MGS5's engine. From the look of the gameplay this is excatly that, so I'll no doubt be playing a lot of this. With it being a modern engine I will wait and see how performance is, though.

Jesus Christ!! the amount of hyperbole used and the amount of times this guy (ai narrator?) Gave undue credit to the new hardware for what is clear as day a design decision was nauseating. Insufferable.

With Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater inching ever closer to its final release, we dive into a few more things we think you should know before you grab a copy of Hideo Kojima's classic title that explores Snake's motivations and the events that set him on the road to becoming Big Boss.

From weapons and tools you can use in the field to secrets and call backs you can discover, there is a lot to unpack in Konami's remake of the classic title, and a few impressions from early access previews that showcase just how faithful the remake stays to the spirit of the original game.

Dive right in and check out what's stayed the same and what hasn't and perhaps decide if the remake is going to be worth your time and money.
