I met my current boyfriend through it, we've been together for over 8 months, and we seriously think we're in it for a very very long time... I just had my profile up there for kicks, didn't expect anything serious out of it, but it happened when I was least expecting it, so you never know.

Edit: I do think that we were incredibly lucky with this thing, so you have every right to (and you should) be skeptical, I know people who've been on that site for years without anything major happening. And I can't stress this enough: INSIST on seeing a face picture before arranging a meeting (and provide your own too), or it's 99.9% chance that you will be disappointed. It doesn't have to be a public picture for anyone to view if discretion is an issue, you can upload private photos that you can send along messages.

...I met a delightful Italian guy off of gaydar last night - it was really cool, we just went for a very traditional coffee + icecream type date in an empty cafe, and talked and talked and talked. It was the most spontaneous thing too, I'd only messaged him on Tuesday and he immediately asked me to come out with him on Wednesday.

I think that was my first proper date

(Unfortunately the dude might be leaving the country at the end of the month...)

But yeah, I guess occasionally gaydar (and its ilk) can work out for those of us not looking for an anonymous shag.

Yeah, most guys on there are just looking for sex, unfortunately. I often give up on it for long periods (but tend to always check back in eventually). Occasionally you might find a diamond in the rough.

I'm registering with that DowneLink site now, though I'm not sure how useful it'll be to me not being in the US. I did like the "status" options, though - far more reflective of real life than most sites
