What exactly is Active Downing?

sniper rifle:

normal body shot = heavy damage
normal headshot = insta kill

active body shot = down the player
active headshot = insta kill

This makes the sniper a beast when you have an active reloaded bullet ready, just aim in their general direction and kill them.

the later Gears games removed active downs for a reason, the community hated it. I'm not sure why they would put the negative things back in. what are we going to see next, crabwalking and glitching out of the map?

I feel that listening to the community is what ruined the gears franchise. It got gradually worse until Judgement released and nobody even played anymore.

bullshit. no one asked for any features that jugmenet had. no one asked for greater verticality, removing dbno, removing pistols etc.

activing downing is a piece of shit and i swear if its in the final game i aint buying this garbage

Perfect Active with the Longshot (sniper) also makes the bullets bigger, making headshots a little bit easier.

the things the community asked for include better weapon balancing, servers, maps, characters, controls and modes. what we didn't ask for was the retro, sawed-off, asymmetrical maps, weapon skins, wall-tagging, and verticality

for many people the series was hit and miss with Gears1/3 being great games. shit, games we still play today.

Uh no. Listening to the community is what made gears special and what made it kept going so strong in MP. No one liked judgement because they threw away every single thing the community liked about it, judgement failed because it alienated its community....simple as that.

Those are glitches activate downing wasn't. When someone gets hit with a sniper tell me they shouldn't go down with one hit especially with a powered up bullet in it. I feel it's fair for power weapons like snipers and shotguns to take someone down fast.

Weapon sliding was one thing I didn't mind and actually liked in Gears 1, even though it was a glitch it provided a nice way to avoid getting shot (while picking up the sniper as soon as the round starts) by the host team who had the host advantage.
 
all this bullshit is why gears 1 was such a ragefest. its all coming back to me now. i would fukin laugh if invincibility while chainsawing is also in the game, that would complete the full shitfest circle
 
Even if you redeem the code, you can't play it because you need an activation code that will be emailed to you later on after redeeming. That's where I am right now.
 
I may have missed this in the thread but has anywhere States if the Beta or full game will have split screen? As if it doesn't that is a huge let down.

But sniper isn't really a power weapon, since no team really fights for the control as "usually" both teams get one on their side. Boomshot, Mortar now those are power weapons.

Active downing is a whole load of shit because of how unfair and skewed it makes the fight, it was ridiculously easy to down someone if you had active sniper bullets in Gears 1. Snipers ruled Gears 1 because of active downing.
 
AD'ing is fine by me, Gears 1 was by far my favourite Gears multiplayer experience

getting hit in the toe by an active snipe from across the map just bad design. then you get the inevitable trolling that comes with that

- get up
- active downed
- get up
- active kill
