Generic Thread 101198: Help me choose between these games

Could someone, or many someones, talk about the relative merits and the relative crappiness of these games, I cant decide.

God of War
Gran Turismo 4
Mercenaries
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

I have a PS2 with only Winning Eleven 8 and I am looking for a different experience.

While I can't speak for all of the games listed, MGS:3 is probably my PS2 game of the generation. GT4 is also very solid, but are you into sim racing?

Do you have a Xbox? Because I would get Mercenaries on that and....I would give a slight edge to Forza over GT.

That said...God of War is fun. It's really, really slick and pleasing in many ways. It's not quite as good as some reviews say. It's a little, tiny bit too empty for that.

MGS3 is excellent! As is GT. Mercenaries is a blast too, sort of a do-anything battlefield.

All very solid games. I imagine you've heard enough impressions on GAF to know what might suit you best.

MGS3 for the love of humanity, and Kojima. Please, do your duty as a citizen.

It's got plenty of replay on different difficulties, the whole finding kerotans (frogs) minigame, AWESOME story, even more AWESOME ending. You can't go wrong. I think it's $20 at some places now, even though it's worth the $50 I paid for it back a release.

I have played every MGS and Gran Turismo. Is GT4 that much better than GT3? I'm thinking God of War because it only takes 10 hours to beat....How long is Mercenaries?

GT4 is an evolution, not a revolution. It's good.

Mercenaries is probably around 20 hours or a hell of a lot longer if you like. It's GTA with less variety and more shooting/exploding.

God of War is a lot of fun, without question.

If you're a big Metal Gear fan, that should be your first choice.

I'd say go with God of War, as it just plays out so well in regards to the fighting mechanics, and the level design. You'll likely finish it in at least 10 hours, but more than likely you'll enjoy every moment of those 10 hours, granted you don't hate action games with a passion. I also loved Metal Gear Solid 3, but when it comes down to it, I seriously had a blast with God of War, which hit on a different level than a MGS game would.

MGS 3 without a doubt then. If you've played the previous games, you should definetly pick up Snake Eater. Everything about it is a Metal Gear Solid fan's dreams come true.

God of War is great as well, but it's on the short side. It'll probably take you 10-12 hours for a single play through. There is a decent amount of incentive to play through it multiple times though. Challenge of the Gods, hardest difficulty, various vidoes.

God of War = FAN-FUCKIN-TASTIC GAME. My #1 recommendation over any others on your list!

Gran Turismo 4 = You must be into racing sims to fully appreciate it. Great game though.

Mercenaries = Slightly overrated, imo. Satisfying level of destruction but doesn't have that level of pollish required for a AAA title.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater = Better than MGS2 (by far) and a great AAA title!

I'd pick GoW because it's fresh and original and offers a wonderfully satisfying action experience!!!!

all of them are good, except mercenaries

unfortunately, you missed it when outpost.com/fry's had MGS3 for $19.99

Well, hell since they didnt lock it.....Does the MGS 3 storyline actually make sense? Does Fry's have a website?

Yes, MGS3's storyline is fantastic. The last few hours are absolutely devastating.
