Geoff Keighley hyping this years E3 as the Best One Ever!

Best E3 ever without Nintendo besides Zelda is pretty telling how strong is Nintendo midshare right now for Geoff.

It's going to be the Best One Ever for sure... if you live somewhere without internet and social media b/c everything has been leaked in advance.

These are "journalists"?

Embarrassing.

In early 2012 I lost all my passion for gaming. Dishonored was the last good game I remember playing. But for some reason I lost it all. i didn't enjoy playing games. Not only I stopped playing games, I stopped reading gaming related news and following industry completely.

Last year I saw one of my old friends and he asked me if I had watched Sony E3 press conference form the week before. "I'm not interested anymore" I replied. He insisted that I have to watch that, no matter what.

I went completely blind. I wasn't ready for that threesome.

Since then I've bought a PS4 and XBO and have enjoyed so many games. I even have a GAF account now and am ready for another E3! That conference brought me back to gaming, literally.

I don't think anything can top that but I love to be wrong.

Amazing little story. Thanks for sharing.

The leaks come in great numbers. But you just wait, your mind will still be blown.

I want to believe, especially after all the hints/teases insiders have been dropping all over the board. Year of Dreams 2.0 can only happen with HL3 though :p

i mean, normally id say hes just hyping up his own show, but that "ive been to 22 e3s and thisll be the best one" tweets a little too much if he was just doing that.

Cackling at the fact that every E3 pretty much has always announced games for the future but so many people in this thread are acting brand new as if that has never been the case, ESPECIALLY from Japan.

I understand if many don't actually care for TLG, FF7R and Shenume because they don't know them or like them... understandable...but now complaining about their release date? 😂😂 All three games are Japanese...I mean... 💀

Yep, it has always been this way. Don't recall a Company showing off a game that wasn't even fully funded yet though.

Just to put the 22 E3s comment in context though, he then says 'Looking over our show rundown tonight, we have'

He's referring to their show having the best lineup, not necessarily referring to press conferences and whatnot

Just putting some perspective on it

It's Geoff's perogative to get viewer numbers up, after all

How many white whale games are even left?

Half Life 3?
Crash?
Agent?
Age of Empires?
Silent Hills?
Beyond Good and Evil?
Phantom Dust?
Prey 2?
Megaman Legends 3?
Chrono Break?
Final Fantasy 6 remake?

To a lesser extent...

Left 4 Dead 3?
Red Dead Redemption?

I expect we'll see a lot of new IP and Star Wars this year. I'm happy with that.

I love Geoff and I have no doubts this will be a great E3 and I know he's excited.

That said. He always says this about events. It's best not to get your expectations too out of touch. Geoff is a good guy but he's also there to hype and he's great with words. He'll make you think something is there by how he says and answers things

What's the reference to 'white whales'? Rarity?

I was wondering, but can we even put Agent in there?
I mean, didn't we literally just get a logo and a few empty concept arts - it's not like it's been a long running franchise or as a new I.P even offered any promise

I'm always a bit iffy about that one

I was kinda lukewarm on 2015's (The 'big three' reveal didn't excite me, though I get they hype), so at least for me it could top 2016.

Best ever? Not likely. Maybe if Nintendo was showing the NX and Sony/MS had some new ace cards ready to go. Right now this E3 feels like it'll be what you expect out of a pile of company strategy meetings, and not some crazy exec going 'We must beat them at all costs!'.

Sheer amount of Mobile at it dampens my excitement as well.

I like Geoff a lot, and I'm super stoked, but I'm sure this has been mentioned: take what he says with a grain of salt. Remember when he hyped up one of the surprises at VGAs and it turned out to be a Dead Mouse performance, lol

Crash, Kojima production teaser, FromSoftware new IP, God of war.

Still can't beat FFVIIR,Shenmue,The Last guardian.

Edit: RDR2 as well and pretty far fetched HL3.

Geoff is awesome and unquestionably the best host in the industry. He's also a hype master, though. It's harmless and I adore his enthusiasm, but I'll temper my expectations just a touch.

Hope to be pleasantly surprised! :)

Sour puss. I bet that if they announced "FF7 will release tomorrow" there would still be a vocal minority who would lambast them for not releasing it today.

Sony did the best E3 of any company ever in the history of E3. That anyone would want to diminish that is beyond me. Sure, I'd like to see them try to top that this year. It's not like they have very strong competition going in. Both Microsoft and Nintendo are low odds contenders.

Huh? Do we have all to share the same opinion that last year's E3 showing by Sony was the best thing ever?

Because I certainly don't. I think it's probably one of the worst, and at some point made me feel pissed off (they spoiled the beginning of Arkham Knight for me. Bunch of morons)

For me, Microsoft has been killing it in the past years with their E3 showing. Showing both games coming soon and some others taking a while. The only E3 that I was hyped by Sony's conference was 2014's and that was because of Bloodborne and nothing else.

I assume they're significant since Sony appear to be determined to bring Crash back in a big way..

have they? i know some people on gaf seem to be scrambling for it to come back, but sony seem relatively quiet on the matter. i can't imagine it would be worth the effort and money making a new one. i mean, ratchet has been a surprising success story, but it's still not lighting the world on fire sales wise, and ultimately it's a shooter...which crash isn't...it's a platformer...a dead genre on anything but nintendo consoles.

i don't get why people want a new one tbh. maybe as a cheap digital title on PSN it could be successful both commercially and critically? something low budget and low risk. but a AAA crash game just sounds like throwing money in a fire to me. if i was sony i wouldn't even consider it.

I didn't have any hype for E3, I thought it was going to pass without me noticing anything more than a few threads and lackluster announcements.

But now it draws near and the hype, long believed dead, stirs within me. I have the entirety of the next week off work. I have a new data plan that allows near unlimited streaming. All my original plans fell trough. So it seems that I'll be here, F5:ing till the servers die, saving gifs and messing up my sleep schedule. In other words, My body is ready for E3.
