Geoff Keighley hyping this years E3 as the Best One Ever!

Hard to top

I don't think we'll get a BIG 3. I mean I can't even think of any game announcement that has potential to be bigger than the FFVIIR. HL3 is the only one and for me personally I don't care for it.

However, I hope this E3 has a wide spread of great announcements instead 1-3 big shockers.

There's probably around a hundred hours of pure reactionary joy on Youtube alone from Sony's E3 conference last year, it might not have been your cup of tea, but I'd say pretty impartially that's proof enough that for a huge amount of people it was an E3 of dreams, and unmatched.

To beat last year I'm gonna need Half-Life 3, Resident Evil 2 Remake footage, Shenmue HD Collection and Marvel Vs Capcom 4 back to back

I don't care if they are a way off - the FFVII Remake and Shenmue 3 bombs are pretty much unbeatable.

I still rewatch the Gametrailers reaction

Last years E3, especially Sonys presser is already the most legendary. There is simply no way the could top it on an emotional or nostalgic level.

the guy could probably hype up an upcoming bowel movement, i'm not going to put much stock in what he has to say about this E3. it's mere days away, i'll keep my expectations in check.

I like the guy. But hyping up events is like part of his job.
He isn't as hyperbolic as, say, Molyneux, but tends to over hype stuff

I agree, I've never tuned in to E3 to see stuff I'm gonna be playing in the next few months, those games I've already seen plenty of to decide on my purchase

E3 is all about what comes later, and of course, the bombs, the dreams and the tears

Can't beat that spectacle :D

I want to set my alarm and wake up and find GAF down - the true hallmark shit is going down!!!! (E3 pressers are about 1-3am my local time)

Dreams are intangible, nebulous things that seem amazing in the moment but have no real discernible impact on anything meaningful.

Yeah, last E3 sure was the E3 of Dreams™

I dno, last years Sony E3 was basically geared towards the biggest GAF demographic so people went ape shit about it here. Response was nowhere near GAF level in most other places, so it probably isn't that hard to top overall.

That's.. really not true though. Like I mentioned earlier, check Youtube if you want to see reactions.

it will be a strange E3 for me...(almost) no nintendo ,and during this year i have become a pc only player (also have a wii u,but it's basically dead),so the big conferences of Microsoft and Sony don't really interest me that much..some third party games look promising though

There is basically no Nintendo, so how can it be the best ever? To me it seems like the weakest since I started following the industry, but hope I am wrong!

Damn straight, that is what E3 is all about.

Yup. Many of these reaction videos has over hundreds of thousands of views, heck millions of views.

Shawn Laden himself at PSX even dedicated a segment to it and stated how no announcement before has created the same sort of reaction that FFVII Remake managed.

Crash Bandicoot hype. It will be on the Sony stage. Even if the game is still technically an Activision title or if Sony have bought the IP back, it WILL 100% in my mind be at E3. It has got to the point where even Activision should realise it's a good idea to bring it back.

Platinum Games have done a Transformers game in the style of Gen1. That alone makes me a believer that anything can happen.

Crash, people. It will happen, I will bet £50 psn credit with anyone who wants to try me!

The people who actually care enough to watch a company's conference loved that shit, it's not like Gaf is the only website that likes games.

Where on YouTube though? It was massive for the group of gamers that tend to skew older in terms of demographics, 23+ yr old, I think most under that age didn't really care. Shenmue was too early for us, final fantasy doesn't have anywhere near the clout for our demo, TLG is basically hyped due to Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, neither of which were very popular games with our demo either.

Perfect Dark Reboot
Half Life 3
Red Dead Redemption 3
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic III
Banjo 3

I would have a fucking seizure, not even gameplay or anything just a CGI Trailer and a confirmation on a time frame... A fucking seizure

Can´t wait for everybody to go "fuck you Geoff" when their personal most anticipated game is not announced..

Just search for it, there's hours of footage of compiled reactions. It's fine to lump that into a 23+ demographic, but there's still a huge audience for all of these I.P, and this is a demographic which have followed Playstation since the 90s/early 00s for the most part. The stuff that they revealed last year was stuff people had been waiting for years and years for - that is why its 'legendary' to a lot of us, because we got three things we thought may never happen.

For many of us, we literally don't even have another FFVII Remake tier potential announcement, and that's why it's impossible to top it, even Sony couldn't replicate last year.

And as an aside, there was plenty of other newer I.P to appeal to younger audiences.

I don't know how they can top a E3 with

- The Last Guardian
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Shenmue 3

But I'm not going to say it cannot happen. At least, I hope it can/will be topped. But I just don't know how anyone could ever achieve that. xD

how will anyone top Sony's Last Guardian/FF7 remake/Shenmue 3 blowout

unless GabeN finally shows us a 3

Personally don´t care for any of these three.

Announce Red Dead 2 and you have already topped last years E3 for me.

Last year was fucking glorious. Getting the FFXII remaster finally was a nice start to this year for me personally, but that's not to everyone's taste - don't know how they could top those mentioned three. I'm excited either way, bring on Zelda!

Yeah, but people 23 and below have unrefined bad taste. :p

You milleninals ain't got nothing on us 80/90s kids.

It's Geoff's job and perogative to hype shit up but the guy has a genuine enthusiasm for games and his live show is always really good.

I'll definitely be tuning in after all the pressers between Giant Bomb, Kinda Funny and gamespot streams. I'm gonna be drowning in games content next week and thats beautiful!

Personally don´t care for any of these three.

Me too. RDR 2 will make me lose my shit.
Although I do care for TLG a lot, that was the only megaton for my own personal tastes.

To each their own, they say.

But I'm with you for Red Dead 2. Heck, if there's one remaster I think should be made, it's Red Dead Redemption. So if they finally announce a sequel, I'll be ecstatic! The first game is easily the best open world game by Rockstar. Grand Theft Horses, as I call it. =)

Ya'll aren't ready for what is about to happen. I've been to all 22 E3s. 22!

Orange Box 2 plz!

Agent
Red Dead Redemption 2
Crash
Half life 3
Last of Us 2

That would be pretty much my list as well, add to that Evil Within 2, Sega bringing VF series and Vanquish to Steam, Dino Crisis Remaster into the mix too.

Seemed to me that he was more hyping the content/coverage of the show than the actual games or conferences.

In early 2012 I lost all my passion for gaming. Dishonored was the last good game I remember playing. But for some reason I lost it all. i didn't enjoy playing games. Not only I stopped playing games, I stopped reading gaming related news and following industry completely.

Last year I saw one of my old friends and he asked me if I had watched Sony E3 press conference form the week before. "I'm not interested anymore" I replied. He insisted that I have to watch that, no matter what.

I went completely blind. I wasn't ready for that threesome.

Since then I've bought a PS4 and XBO and have enjoyed so many games. I even have a GAF account now and am ready for another E3! That conference brought me back to gaming, literally.

I don't think anything can top that but I love to be wrong.

I pretty much agree with all of what you've said here, my post was just responding to someone who said that it would be basically impossible to top last years E3 presser. My point is just that considering the three "dream" announcements from last year only really matter to maybe 50% of the E3 audience, I don't think it would be very hard to top it from an overall perspective, let alone consider it impossible.
