Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions up for Preorder on PS4 and Xbox One (Preload)

The problem is that Geo Wars RE2 was perfect. 100 hours plus of game time on my side. It is going to take utter perfection again to have the same impact.

Can anyone actually explain why it's different?

It seems, at the very least, the classic mode is in, but what are the differences that make people so sour on the game?

I just want to experience this IP, as I've always wanted to play it last gen, and it's finally on a PlayStation :(

Even though I have both systems, I think I'll get it first for PS4 (gotta have that triangle stage lol). I'll give my impressions of what I think of this game. Note that I'm a huuuuuge fan of Geometry Wars and played them all (even had Dimensions on both Wii U and DS).

From what I've seen, it's different yes, but it still looks really good. I mean honestly as much as I liked Geometry Wars 2, Geo Wars Dimensions had the right idea as well. Evolve mode is fun and probably the most played mode in every version that's came out, but do you honestly want to pay to simply play what you're already used to before? Dimensions switched it up, and added levels that behaved differently, and it worked. Geo Wars 2 added game modes that tested various skills, and it worked. 3 looks like it's adding new ideas and the game looks good with the 3D effects and 3 dimensional stages. I like the look. Besides the classic evolve mode is still there so I don't know what the fuss is about.

People that played it said they are disappointed but I also remember how much humans hate change, so I would take it with a grain of salt until I've played myself. I guess we shall see the 25th midnight.

You can preorder it on Steam too

The, uh, "exclusive" bonus levels (One level from the PS4 ver. and the other from Xbox One ver.):

"Pre-Purchase Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions and get two bonus levels:
Secret Eye: a unique triangle-shaped grid with an evolving cubed wall
Blood Count: a unique Torus shaped grid"

Is that really the "exclusive content" for the consoles, advertised again as exclusive on Steam but together? Yet another nebulous exclusive wording. Can't complain that both of the content level are there for pre-orders I guess, but then it sucks that you are limited to one on the consoles, for no meaningful reason

I've never pre-ordered a digital game before but this is Geometry Wars 3 we're talking about. I am BEYOND hype and will pre-order it now. Probably will pre-order on both systems.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Deadline, Classic, Waves, King and Pacifism are coming back, right? Those alone are worth the money. 10000000 hours of playtime. Countless hours of sleep...lost.

Even if single player and the change to 3D isn't amazing, you still have the core modes that made GW2 simply perfect.

I just saw that MajorNelson streamed 35 minutes of GW3 yesterday (You can't hear him talking until the 3:50 mark, btw):

No no, Steam has one of each -- not all of them.

There's no way to get all of the levels in the game at this point.

It's not GW 3. It's GW 3D! And that is why I'll probably wait as well. If only the classic mode was 2D instead of faux-3D.

I remember Geometry Wars being the first really good games Xbox 360. And that lasted until Table Tennis came out.

It was a strange time to own an Xbox.

They kept the up beat techno (Deadline's remix sounds awesome). They kept the same twin stick shooter aspect. They brought the drones from Dimensions. They gave you the majority of GW2's modes. They gave you classic mode back. I fail to see why some people are having problems with the 3D aspect. It's new and fresh to the series.

Geometry Wars Dimensions changed it up. Geometry Wars 2 greatly changed it up. Now 3 is changing it up for the third time. It's not even bad change either. Looks fun and more like a part 3 and not Geometry Wars 2.5 like a lot of people seem to want to pay for.

So any news/reviews?

I am really curious

I know there are spherical worlds akin to Super Stardust, but hell, I'll take that it as I loved Stardust
