What do you mean? This has been the case even in the anime since the beginning. Everyone refers to her as Major.
She's referred to as Major all the time. I think she is addressed by her title certainly more than her actual name in the movie and TV series.
If it's any good, I'll check it out in the IMAX. I'm not digging where they are going with the story, but the visuals look compelling.
After critics really exaggerated the badness of Iron Fist, I don't know how much I trust them right now. It seems like too many are ready to poo poo something if it's hip to do it.

Can't remember the scene from GitS that good but was there a tachikoma there when she tries to rip the tank apart/open? I think not.

No, the Tachikomas were not in the Anime, because they need a lot of backstory to explain. Armed robots with voices of kids and AI is not that easy to grasp without the context.
The animation was a visual fest and people gonna like the movie in that aspect too, plot wise it's gonna be way toned down compared to the original wich is too complex for the general public.

Looks decent much better trailer than the one I saw in the cinema before logan, which seemed to cover everyplot point of the movie.
Tachi's weren't brought in until the TV series as far as the animations go. Think this is covering only the 1st movie from what I can guess at.
Yeah, I think it is almost only Batou that calls her Mokoto and only in more quiet scenes where she is showing weakness.

Day before release. It was already previewed in Tokyo and France and was received pretty well.

Clint Mansell is usually pretty great -- unless Rupert Sanders told him otherwise not to work his magic.

I don't put a ton of stock in that, especially Tokyo. They're just seeing dollar signs. But thank you. As a big fan of the franchise reviews won't be a huge deterrent... unless they're DCEU-level bad.
It will be 4 sentences about the movie anyway and the rest about whitewashing in Hollywood. Remember all those Ghostbusters reviews without even discussing the movie?
Intensely curious how good or bad this movie ends up being. The direct remaking of certain scenes seems so weird to me, when you've changed a bunch of other stuff. Sort of reminds me of that piece of shit Oldboy remake. Has to be better than that though.

DCEU-level bad is where I'm setting my expectations on this. If its higher then it'll be a pleasant surprise, but from what they are pushing in the teailers, its just going to go from one action set piece to another and drop all of the philosophical stuff.

It's probably only for the trailer, the shelling sequence is reproduced faithfully, music and all for instance.
I don't think trailers will really gave us an idea of the movie, trying to sell GiTS as GiTS to western audiences is hard, sexy heroine with dubstep is easier.
It is pretty crazy how nearly every major story beat in the first movie is in this trailer, almost shot for shot, and yet at the same time the underlying themes seem so different.

Movies and TV series cant be good, bad or average these days based on the content. People will blame the whole whitewashing thing as the reason the movie will be received poorly, just like people blamed Ghostbusters being received poorly by the audience on misogyny.

Mixed feelings, visually it looks great and while I love me some Scarlet J I'm still a little worried it's going to be too Americanized. Also not a fan of dubstep. Hoping it's good though, seems like it could go either way for me.
Yeah, that is the original, but here she is on the top shooting at it while it is holding someone, which I assume is Batou.
Well, I hope it's good for the sake of getting more people interested in the Ghost in the Shell universe, I just don't care much for this movie to actually watch it unless I hear raving reviews.

It will be worth seeing on the big screen / IMAX for the visuals alone.
Like I would be sad if I ever only saw Avatar on my tv. Saw that on a 2 story IMAX screen and it was amazing.

looks jaw dropping stunning, like blade runner visuals updated for 2017. Hope the story and acting can hold up. Will be a weekend theater watch for me if RT isn't below 50.
