Ghost of Yōtei popcorn bucket announced

I'm trying to find out if people here are just trolling everything now. This is a popcorn bucket. It's cool. But why are they acting like it's the worse idea ever?

The same dummie that created this thread is writing in another thread about concern trolling over Playstation. You can't make this shit up. Pikmin's bipolarity is a thing.

At least it's only $40.

Sony launched Playstation branded living room furniture way back at Pottery Barn for $2,000. You could show off to your friends and fam all the tables, shelves and couches with the PS Logo and circle/triangle/square symbols stamped into the products.

A game holder shelf that held 8 game cases was $70.

I like it and would even use it to store some stuff in (never would use for popcorn) but $40? Is it made of real bamboo for that price? Yeah right there's about $0.36 cents in cost for that thing. Wake me up when clearance at $15 or less

I'm viewing it the same way too lol. It looks cool as a prop in the house. But I'd never use it for real popcorn.

If you can't fuck it like the DK barrel I don't want it

Wild how some are making fun of this, I actually think it's pretty neat as they could've done absolutely nothing. Of course it's a collab with Alamo, they do a lot of neat stuff, especially with merch. Cool to see them do something rather than nothing.

Hey man, as someone that's worked in marketing someone clearly was like, "Hey, Ghost of Yotei is inspired by old samurai films, can we do a collab with a theater?" and they ran with it which I respect. I'm sure they wanted to do some special merchandise for it, and I'm not sure what else they'd do for a movie & movie theater collab.

That being said, will I partake? No, lmao.

Hey man, as someone that has seen decades worth of silly marketing tactics. We all know why this is here. It's a jump the shark marketing scheme. Ie articles written about it, mentions, etc. I get it. But can't we have some fun with it?

We all know it really is:

Way of the Samurai: Film Series Inspired by Sony Marketing Department at Alamo Drafthouse

Somehow the word "inspired" triggered the shit out of me in that Alamo post. It's a fucking marketing campaign. Nothing was "inspired" by anything.

In unrelated news, I am old and angry!

Exactly, lmao.

What's wild is that.... people bought it and it sold out. So, I guess they knew it'd work, lol.

As an 80's kid I love dumb merchandise. But I'll never understand the popcorn bucket craze.

Agreed. It always was going to be, between collectors, low run rate, and low cost it was inevitable. Image a few will show up on eBay and be sold for 5x original cost. But Sony got what they wanted I would think we will see a few articles about them over the next couples days or so.

I like shit like that because I collect them. But fucking $40 for what? Fake wood and a logo? Fuck off

1. I too wish it was cheaper.

2. I'm actually ok with it not being wood, I at first I thought it should be real, like real wood and then I realized you'd be eating in it and stuff and cleaning it and it makes more sense not to be that material.
