Ghost of Yoti New Gameplay Trailer

'm sure there are people who like AC and it's gameplay loop but I'm not one of them, I avoid AC exactly because I don't like its entire gameplay style……which is why I was really disappointed that Sucker Punch went on that route after InFAMOUS series (which I liked).
feels like every company wants to do what AC is doing these days.
GAAS craze has seemed to die down over the past year, but the future doesn't seem all that.

Now, instead of having to choose between battle royale butchering of a multiplayer IP #1 or original generic GaaS IP #2, its open world ubisoft clone #1 or soulslike #2.

singleplayer games are back but at what cost?

Look at what they've shown so far ....
Realize they're putting no priority on a Pro version ...
See how basic the Pro enhancement was for a huge exclusive like Death Stranding 2...
Bet that Yotei will also get a basic upgrade when it releasee on Oct 2...
Didn't DS2 play the quality mode of the game at 60fps?

Delusional takes
Well, animation and visual polish connoisseurs tend to make up bulk of PS fanbase. If you are ok with it, thats fine.

Personally am seeing polish level of some 3rd party titles, while having same, less than stellar mechanics.

Not sure if there are any players who would get behind this.

I mean, with something like Rise of the Ronin, people compromise on visual polish to be able to enjoy some satisfying and tight/precise mechanics.

What exactly is the draw here?

We are getting plenty of great SP games even this year.

I just want Sony's first party devs to stop getting their inspiration from Ubisoft when comes to their game design.

To me Horizon felt I was playing 3rd person FarCry game and GoT felt like AC game…I don't want this.

After seeing the animations in Phantom Blade and other Chinese games, the animations in Yotei are a massive letdown.

It's like they asked unpaid interns to make a mockup game using Tsushima assets, which could explain why some textures look like a downgrade from Tsushima (Rocks, walls, etc) and why it took 5 years to make.

Sony even has its own asset creation sweatshop studio in Malaysia and they couldn't be bothered to make better quality textures for Yotei?

AI isn't bad, the enemies are just extremely depressed and want their daily suffering to end (understandable, imagine living without indoor plumbing or even outhouses).

Playstation Studios new slogan:
"Safe™, Boring© and Lazy®!"

well, out of tsushima, ronin, & shadows, you'd sorta hope at least one was good, eh? &, afa 'craze', with yotei around the corner, i'd say 3 in a little over a year & a half certainly counts...
Ronin was not bad, granted (And ill be honest, I totally forgot about it until after I posted, and I own it, derp..). Shadows though.. that was just a massive UBI pander attempt, and a terrible one at that.

If I had a perfect one I could think of it has to be a mix of the graphics of Shadows, the violence of Tsushima 2, and the world building and map size of Elden ring, somehow..

A big Japanese mash up of all the best things.

And that my core issue with GoT. That's why it's an easy skip. Other games to play. Really wish Tenchu would make a comeback. That's a Stealth game I can get behind.

Yeah, and among console AAA if you want some guaranteed variety in single-player you're just about screwed. I mean Nintendo doesn't do open-world Ubisoft or Soulslikes, but their stuff is otherwise a known quantity at this point (platformers, RPGs, arcade racers, party fighters etc.). Will say though that is IMO quite a bit more unique & greater variety than the single-player AAA or AA we're seeing on the other consoles.

Outside of that, for real gameplay & genre variety outside of GAAS, you need to look to AA and indies. And at that point you're better off on PC since there'll be a massive ton of such games with zero console versions available (and if they do come to console, it takes literal ages).

Barely any game makes use of PS5 Pro past the launch period.

And it is only gonna get worse
Console is in real situation like 30% faster in raster than ps5 and no game show this apparenlty big improvements in ray tracing. Dont expect anything other than higher res in future games.

You call this tame shit violence?

Freaking tlou1 on ps3 is 10x times more brutal than yotei cmon...

The more I see of this game the less enthused I am about it. Maybe Sony will port this to the Switch 2 if it bombs, looks like a nice title for that console assuming if Shadows doesn't make it there first.

I'll have to wait for the game's release to make my decision. There isn't much here for me who put 500+ hours on Ghost + Legends, it feels too similar to the first game in terms of gameplay, which isn't bad but maybe I just burnt myself out of it.

Shadow vs Yotei

Man look at that fucking ground, what a piece of work that is. There's barely any geometry, like at all. It's just one giant flat, brown plane with splashes of white and a blur in between to "smoothen" the transition. Unreal.

Look at how flat the lighting is, how the objects stand out. Look at the character next to the cart, how there's barely any shadows. Look at how low-poly the geometry is. Look at how many carts and chest-high crates there are copy-pasted all over the place. Shit almost looks like a fucking 360-era Gears of War arena.

We're almost 5 years into the PS5 generation, btw. Crazy stuff.
