It's also a good way to ensure that they have some say in what premium content is released for free via highlight packages. I doubt they had any issue with what he was doing, but by making it an official version, they make any unofficial highlights less desired and thus less viewed.

Austin probably did a lot of heavy lifting to get this set-up for the guest column stuff (cbs is a big company), and the same system can probably be applied to videos. Props to him for bringing different voices on the site.

Not sure why bringing on freelancers was so hard when Gamepot has been doing it for a long time. They must have a dozen freelancers doing reviews alone since they fired all their writers. Even GB has hired short term contractors for E3.
I doubt the total budget for freelance is close to the total cost of hiring a full time staff member, once you add in all the benefits etc. That could have been how GB sold it to management, give us this budget and we will not pester you over another hire any time soon.

Primm (which is in the game) is one of those towns that I know more from media than anything else. I can't see the name and not think of New Vegas.
Apparently the population is like 1100 so more people have seen it in Fallout than actually ever lived there. Googling "Primm" actually brings up the Fallout wiki over the wikipedia entry for the actual town. Not sure how I feel about that.

I'd say that's more likely than not, considering Campo Santo is located in San Francisco. Also, Firewatch has a "history" with Giant Bomb obviously, with the long running "But What is Firewatch?" meme.
Congrats to him! I probably watched that playlist atleast a dozen times now.
Did you know that What It Is was actually a super short lived video series from 2011-2012? It's not a Quick Look or Quick Look EX because they are talking over prerecorded video instead of talking while playing. Whether or not they do that with Firewatch or if they just resurrected the series for a joke we will find out in about ten hours.
