The problems come from everyone hitting them at once in anticipation of them starting. Testing earlier can't alleviate that.

nope. I had a mild panic when my computers heat sink started making this loud rattling noise, so I just spent like 30 minutes cleaning that, checking my phone for the countdown till this started and making sure my smart tv could log into youtube to watch the stream in case my PC kicked the bucket at its most crucial moment.
