Great question Brad

Also am I the only one that is bugged by the whole "Unbounded frames" thing? I know what he's talking about but it's the first time I hear that expression.

It's interesting how he's making a clear distinction between Xbox One/S and Scorpio, even though they still play the same games. I wonder if Jeff's prediction of "Fuck it, it's an Xbox" is going to be where they really do go for names from now.

As an xbox owner (for the record I own a ps4 as well), im glad to say Phil Spencer is in control of the future of the console. This dude gets it. He doesnt come out and just spew business speak, he tells it like it is.

A far far far far departure from the last regime that xbox had. This dude is money.

This interview is making me more excited for my Xbox One S purchase.

I think that's a fair way to approach that. I support the idea of multiple storefronts in theory, I just think the current iteration of the Windows Store is bad

So, I work on the Store, but Phil is completely right - if we never released first-party games exclusively on the Store, then we wouldn't have learned nearly as much as we have. Steam releases would have meant much lower volume on the Store. Lower volume on the Store would've meant much less traction with customers, and much less ability for us to debug issues and improve things.

Our success with Forza Apex and Killer Instinct has in particular proven this - they were successful for customers, and successful for us in terms of volume and our ability to find and fix issues more quickly.

Even though we already had a massive amount of improvements in the works for the Anniversary Update coming this Summary, those improvements would've been much less effective without what we learned about releasing the games we did release on the Store so far.

In the meantime, absolutely no one is oblivious to the issues we have with the current iteration in the Store. Especially Phil - he's just as genuine and knowledgeable in person as he is in interviews.

Phil is sort of a masterful PR guy. Agree with the question and very accurately address the point, but use it as a segway to answer a question they didn't ask. Both Jeff and Brad wanted to ask about how far they'd force developers to target both platforms, but both times Phil answered a different question without seeming like he was being defensive or condescending.

I know tons of people have said it at this point already... but replacing Mattrick with Phil Spencer is by far the smartest thing Xbox/Microsoft has done in so long. He's so good at what he does.
