That "Can't let VR become the comic books of video games" comment threw me. I don't quite get that.

I think they mean they don't want it to become a thing considered to be for asocial weirdo degenerates or something. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the interpretation I got from it. I don't think it was necessarily a claim on people who actually read comic books, but on how society has (for awhile) viewed people who read comic books, and how they don't want VR to dwindle in that space.

I think she means in the sense that it is pretty pigeonholed as superhero shit. Obviously there are and have been some very outside the box stuff but I think the vast majority of it is superhero stuff? At least that was how I took it.

I'm just inferring here, but as a medium, comic books were stuck in a rut for like 50 years where they were just pumping out the same kinds of stories about the same kinds of people from the same kinds of backgrounds.

Some diversity in VR would do it some good. How many more shooting galleries do we really need?

Yea, it came after the comment about how everything is a shooting gallery.

What happened to Wattam? I remember them announcing it wasn't PS4 exclusive anymore but that's it

They were demoing it at a bunch of shows and people seemed to really dig it. Sad to see it disappear

Maybe it's a personal thing, but I rather see someone try to do all of the things and not say "just imagine all of this happening".

It's a little different though than say writing something. You can hammer out a good idea on a keyboard or typewriter in an evening or a week. A good idea for VR could take months or years.

I feel like that's a weird thing to say about people who are talking about VR games they've worked on!

Also this.

This sounds really interesting but it seems like it's all talk and nothing will come out of it.
It's the tricky nature of the format right now. People seem to have big ideas on what to do for the format, but have a difficult time getting funding. Especially if you want to make something abstract, instead of something perceived as 'market safe' (ex - shooting galleries).

Robin is a really great guest! Her enthusiasm for VR is super infectious. Hope she's back in the next few years, I don't remember her from years prior.

Hug your shame turtle!

I think it's pretty cool that people are excited about VR but I just doubt the longevity of it at the moment.

I've never even used VR before but we're absolutely in the best time of it. Devs are chomping at the bit right now to figure it out and present it in exciting ways. Just think like in twenty years when VR is all figured out and the standard and we'll look back on this and laugh.
