i don't really know if KS holds up by itself without the expectations you have going in, knowing that it was developed by a bunch of randos who lurked /vg/ or whatever, and how it really subverts your expectations. You think it'd be huniepop-tier but actually it's kinda just really good. Wildly inconsistent though.

Mind you, I don't do this with generic Hollywood porn or similar (I rarely watch that stuff to begin with). But we're getting a bit off topic here, so I'll switch subjects..
I watched the PAX Rumble and it was great! Nice that they didn't keep having technical issues, and it was great to see pretty much everyone play a character. We've come a long way since the first ones!

on one hand pubg is worldwide phenomenon and it makes sense to include it in the favoring for goty list with how much time everyone has spent with it
on the other hand i'm not sure how to feel about the precedent of adding early access games to goty... if a game is good but unfinished it should prob still count. but I do like the idea of only evaluating a finished product.. though games are never really 'finished'

In general, it is in games' best interest that Early Access not qualify for the list. They should want their release to be a statement of "this should be considered a complete product."

If a game is good enough to be considered in the running for GOTY DESPITE being early access, that is nothing if not an incredibly strong argument in favor of including it.
And again: it's all arbitrary. You could call Destiny 2 early access if you wanted. That game will see significant changes and additions throughout its life. It doesn't mean anything.

There is no shortage of early access games, they just don't play them (and I don't blame them).
It's not arbitrary, though. There is no ambiguity as to when a game claims it's early access. No Man's Sky should have been and certainly felt like it, but that's on them.
Destiny 1 got into the top 10 and was less complete than PUBG is today.
