Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I really do trust that Jeff has the best intentions and will do his best to make everything he says happen. It's just basically impossible to trust CBS/Gamespot.

So instead of having Rorie and Will and Norm pop in and make Giant Bomb livestreams and videos even better, it'll be a bunch of Gamespot randoms who I have no interest whatsoever in getting to know.

Jesus some of you guys are seriously overreacting. We could have totally lost Giantbomb and they'd all be out of a job, this is a better option than that.

I am bummed about losing Will/Gary/Norm/Rorie, but it sounds like Tested x Mythbusters will be crazy awesome, so thats not all bad either.

I'm not ready to doomsay at all just yet, and I'm actually surprised at how many people are. I'm excited and intrigued to see where things go from here.

Optimism, I know it's scary, but more of you should try it :P

Full circle for me. I started as a Gamespot member, quit on the day Jeff got fired, was a day 1 charter member of Giantbomb when it went live, and now it looks like I will be a Gamespot member again.

I know this is just a website on the internet... but i feel sick, excited, nervous.

Same here. Not too sure about going back to Gamespot. Will be interesting to hear the explanation behind Jeff's firing. Literally haven't been to Gamespot ever since. No idea what happened to it or how it does nowadays.

No, don't like that, not one fucking bit...

All the GB guys are staying, Jeff says they're maintaining full creative control over scores etc and they aren't answering to anyone in that regard, and he's doing a full reveal of why he was fired from Gamespot initially. Feeling better about this.

I can't stream this from work. Does he go into more detail than what we guess before?

When it comes to announcing why he was fired, can someone please explain it all in here for those unable to watch the stream?

RIP Giantbomb.com.

I will miss your no nonsense site, and dread watching videos over at gamespot.com *shudder*

As long as the whole crew is still there, I cannot give up on them though.

Or such and such from 'insert game company' of the week. It will happen they will be pressured into it.

My main issue with this is that there is a good chance that GB will be merged with Gamespot.

There is no need to for two competing sites under the same umbrella. It just doesn't make any sense.

will all the hate on GS... how has it been the past few years? None of the current staff I recognize o_O.

The Hotspot has been a pretty good podcast for the last few years.

There's some annoying people, but there's also a number of cool people they could rope in to stuff.

I'm not overly excited about GS people being on GB content too much, but people like Van Ord are welcome on any content as far as I'm concerned.

I just realized I already have a Gamespot account. I've had it for 10 years. And 1 post somewhere.

Yeah, this is not that big a deal.

I <3 you, Vinny.

I asked Dave this on twitter:

"@enemykite I don't want to be a Gamespot member or let them have my email or CC #. Do I need to cancel membership now to prevent this?"

He replied:
"it will be a coupon. Use it or don't. Totally optional."
Thanks. :)

That makes me feel a little relieved. Don't want my CC to go to GS at all.

Thread about it on Gamespot

"Jeff is coming home!"

"Who?"

...son of a bitch.
Some of those signatures... :lol

They seem cool! Demons Souls, GOTY 2009 yo. (I'm guessing enough of the 2009 staff are still around, ha)

If you listened the podcast where they decided/talked about that you'd never want to hear a word of those fools again in your life. Was basically one guy strongarming the others with weak pointless arguments from all of them.

As long as it's just Van Ord, it'll be fine.

Pretty much everyone else from the GS crew is new and they took the site in a totally new direction in terms of being more considered about games and speaking out about how they don't like CoD and so forth. It's a bit more "high brow", if that means anything.

So kinda like what Brad does/did for Skyrim and Minerva's den?
