Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

I really hope this new deal will inspire Ryan to get into better shape. I love the guy, but damn he just looks gigantic in that office video. I get concerned because these guys aren't in their invincible early-20s anymore. They are in their late-30s now and approaching an age where you become more vulnerable to heartattacks. Maybe I just care too much? I don't know. But I wish Ryan would take better care of himself.

Every Giant Bomb thread on GAF is creepy as fuuuuuuuuuuuuck

The Bomb Squad are not meant to sit in cubicles. I'm supposed to sit in cubicles. I'm a loser. Throw that shit out the window.

How is this creepy? I've been following these guys since their original run at GameSpot and enjoy what they do. I'm not acting like I know them in real life like some people do. I just want to them be around as long as possible doing what they do best.

These guys aren't your friends. You don't know them.

It is creepy as fuck.

If only you felt the same way towards Kessler. :(

The worst was when it was hinted to that Vinny smokes and some people got really angry, especially one post that was like "But he seems like such a good guy. :/". They are obviously not my friends or anything but you can't help but feel like you know the guys though to some extend and it's pretty obvious why people care about them, it's a personality based site.

well he used to work at gamespot and he wrote a dark souls piece for GB.

Coincidentally that might be the best written piece to come out of GB. His DS quick look was great too. I never knew much about Rorie before his Dark Souls stuff but he earned my respect there, and I don't give a shit about that game tbh

Would you go up to some random person on the street and tell them that they need to lose weight?

Ryan is not analogous to a random person on the street, and he's not telling Ryan to his face to lose weight. ANALOGY FAIL. Chatting about Ryan's weight is the internet gamer duder version of housewives chatting about Kim Kardashian's weight on the cover of People magazine.

Now that you got Tim in your avatar and we are on the subject of Ryan... Did anyone notice how they look like brothers separated at birth? Especially that quicklook stuff they did with Tim Schafer recently it was crazy.

No. Because I have no connection with a random dude on the street. I see where you're going with this and it's not the same thing. I don't sit on Twitter and send DMs to Ryan 24/7 about his diet. Nor do I send him chastising tweets whenever he posts TwitPics of whatever he's eating. I will never do anything like that. Some people here went totally apeshit when they found out Vinny was a smoker. I don't really care about that. But caring about someone's general health because you enjoy their work is not creepy whatsoever and I'm sorry you live in a world where expressing that opinion is considered creepy.

I'll shut up now just to placate you since you obviously have a huge issue with people expressing these opinions, eznark.

A more fitting analogy would be something like, "Man, John Goodman is one of my favorite actors. I wish he would get into a better shape so he doesn't die of a heart attack long before his time."

ryan's a smoker to boot.

Deal with it

That analogy doesn't work at all.

Putting it on "popular internet message board" is essentially telling it to his face, unless you guys really think they don't read the boards?

However, I guess random isn't right. Ok, would you go up to you buddy's brother-in-law?

Someone had to do it. (Pretty sure you're not crazy, AnEternalEnigma)

The point is that Ryan is a public entertainment figure. If he was just some random guy that you didn't know who posted on gaf and you started telling him that you wish he would lose weight to take care of himself, that'd be a bit creepy. However, due to Giant Bomb's connection with their audience, it really isn't absurd to see people tell a dude to slow down a bit and take care of himself. Do you also find it weird that people send them gifts and other random stuff in the mail?

John Goodman did lose over 100 lbs. recently! He looks crazy!

I know, awesome for him :D.

Ryan's around 32 or so, I think. Jeff's the oldest, and I think he's 36 or something? Not that I disagree with you, I just don't think they're in their late 40s.

Oh totally man. That is often incredibly creepy and I would be shocked if the bombcrew didn't think so.

For the record, I don't think there's anything even remotely creepy in being worried about Ryan's health.

Honestly I was just being a dick before. It's pretty good light entertainment but the cult following is crazy. Also it got Allison Bries tits.

I'm with you on the cult fanbase thing. Although I think it's fine to love something to insane degrees, it's best to reign it in somewhat, yeah? Fucking love Community, and Giant Bomb, and many other things, to the extent that my brain is crammed with pointless minutiae about these things, but I perhaps don't go nuts about it. Keep that to certain circles, which to bring it back around...

I don't think anyone in here is being creepy, but I don't think you guys need to voice concern about the crew's health or lifestyle decisions- you're in this deep, you know that they're grown-ass men and will handle themselves.
