Giant Bomb Thread 2: A thread on a popular internet message board

Really? I mean did you listen to the radio show at all? They even delved into the financial implications and how to keep Giant Bomb afloat while at CBSi. Normal sites don't just air out their inner politics like that for the sake for their community.

You're talking crazy talk duder.

How to Build a Bomb was awesome but that was a completely different situation. I don't think they should feel obligated to update everyone on a daily basis. That's kind of an unreasonable expectation.

Hahaha. YES.

You phrase it negatively and of course it sounds like a chore. It's a chance to improve the site.

I like transparency as much as the next guy, but we're not really supposed to be privy to their innermost workings at all times.

They have a million other things on their plate right now is what we're trying to get at.

Also, they absolutely communicate with us. It's not daily but whatever. Not that big of a deal. When they do update us they are upfront and frank. What more can you ask for?

Well you can ask for more but come on, be real.

I just think back to the early days of Giant Bomb and this feels very much like them. Just because they now are part of CBSi doesn't mean things like tricasters and gear will get there any faster. In fact it might take longer because there is now a larger procurement machine they have to work within rather than just driving over to Costco and putting two 42" LCD TVs onto a cart. That is one nice advantage of startups, the lack of red tape. I loved that part of being at a startup. Need a couch? Take the company card, drive over to IKEA, wild couch appears. Need cabling and voltmeters? Drive over to Graybar and load up.

THIS.

For anyone that's worked at a semi-large company just think about how long it takes to get anything big done. A fucking while. When there are more working parts things just take longer. When you're trying to rebuild practically your entire infrastructure that's going to be doubly true.

Have you people worked professionally before?

Agreed, the idea that GB needs to be up to date with the latest reviews and shit like that proves they don't really know why they have fans.
I think that's more of an excuse then anything else. They don't even review half the things they play.
They should be doing video content that goes online each day. That's why people come to GB.

I believe they will eventually get to that point when the dust settles.

Yep. I cringed when I heard them talking about having to coordinate shit with their IT department to get consoles and equipment hooked up to the Internet.

It's pretty clear they aren't going to have quite as much freedom as they did at Whisky when it comes to doing weird shit and maybe just having random-ass people show up out of the blue to appear in a video or join in on a podcast.

Pretty sure they've said in the past the bombcast gets the most hits.

As long as it's unclear what they mean by 'hits', whether it's downloads through iTunes or just people going to a particular URL or something else entirely, I don't know how much weight that holds.

You know, HITS. Where do you hear the best hits? HOT NINETY SEVENNNNNNNNNN. AWE YEAH DROP A BOMB ON IT! *explosion sound*

Having a transition period is no problem, but the lack of communication is. There should be a daily thing on what's going on.

Do you guys really need to know about us trying to enroll in our health insurance or staring at opex budgets? Sheesh.

Thanks for sticking with us this long, but please have a little patience. There's still a TON of stuff we need to work through behind the scenes before we're back up to full production capacity. As a random example, I'm dying to show you why Kinect Star Wars is ter... what I think of Kinect Star Wars, but we don't have a way to do Kinect QLs right now. We'll get there with time.

Thanks much for the update Brad. A Kinect Star Wars QL is sounding pretty amazing. That thing has looked terrible from the get-go. Therefor it should be perfect Kinect QL material.

Good luck on getting everything set up.

This seems like it needs the whole crew present to do it justice. TNT?

I have some faith that the site will still have some of its nuances, but beyond that, I'm pretty skeptical on how zany they can be. Honestly, I don't get it. It seemed to me that they were doing well financially at Whiskey Media.

You underestimate how much people are pining for content. Even some random 5 minute videos shot with your phone would calm the masses nicely.

I don't know if I'm a GB white knight or if all yall are just fucking crazy.

I think the last few pages have proven that we're all fucking crazy.

And Brad, thanks for the update. You guys just keep doing what you're doing. The audience will still be there when the content starts flowing regularly again.

I just wish the live video from friday would get uploaded/made free for everyone. I'm subscribed but I work during 99% of live broadcasts so it's a bit of a bummer not to be able to watch.

It will be archived for subscribers soon. Stuff like Breaking Brad just takes a lot longer to post since it's such a long video.

Baard stop dead. ;|

Kidding aside, I think you all form a great bunch and host the podcast with gusto. Don't listen to the naysayers. Bravo!
