That hasn't been happening but I have been getting the premium RSS feeds asking for my user/pass once a day for the past week.
 
Yeah, that's the page I keep getting kicked to. I'm going to try clearing cookies or something and see if that doesn't fix it.

They're probably going to be playing Lunar Flight which they mention on I love Mondays. In which case it should be awesome.
 
Finally got around to listening to the newest Bombcast. Vinny is going to be such an awesome dad =D

Edit: plus the bombcast is just better with him around.
 
I think 8-4 Play will be joining Giant Bomb in some capacity. Klepek dropped some hint bombs on Twitter dot com:

  • "I feel like there will be two cool things tomorrow. One of them will be on Giant Bomb, and one of them won't. Yes, but also…no. You'll see."
  • "Here's the only hint you get: Monster Hunter."
Well, we know 8-4 Play is moving on from 1UP and is joining some friends elsewhere, and Giant Bomb makes sense to me. They're always talking about how they love Giant Bomb. And the only high profile podcasters that talk about Monster Hunter are, of course, the 8-4 cats. Just a thought. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Mark McDonald is one of the few people who I think would gel really well with the GB team, though it's never going to happen. Him and, like, Jeff Green, pretty much. Maaaaybe Jeremy Parish, though that may just be me wanting super-solid JRPG coverage from GB.

That would be a nerdy dream collaboration come true for me. Giant Bombcast and 8-4 Play are easily my two favorite ongoing game podcasts, and Mark would be a fun guest on the Bombcast from time to time (he's already appeared on one of their E3 podcasts, I think).
 
Just to be clear, what I meant is that I think Giant Bomb will be hosting the 8-4 Play podcast. They mentioned on the last 8-4 that they were moving over to a new host, and Giant Bomb seems like a pretty logical place for that. (But I can't imagine the two entities merging in any way if this happens to be true; in other words, I don't think we'll be hearing Mark MacDonald Skyped into the Bombcast or anything like that.)

Yeah, I've never heard of 8-4 Play till now and after looking them up I didn't really understand how they could "join" Giant Bomb. On the other hand I don't see the point of them hosting podcasts with Giantbomb because isn't that the whole point of ITunes? How expensive could just hosting podcast MP3s be that they need to move away from whatever they were using previously?

It's funny you mentioned that, because that's exactly what I wondered when the show first started a few years back. The 8-4 guys have always hosted their show on Libsyn. But for the past two years they also posted links to the show up on 1UP. Mark MacDonald used to say 1UP "hosted" the podcast, but strictly speaking I don't think that's true.

Now that 1UP is not what it used to be, they've said that they're moving on. So I imagine if they move over to Giant Bomb, it means that Giant Bomb will link to their podcast or fold it into their PODCAST MEDIA NETWORK/EMPIRE (cue apocalyptic music) or something like that.

I was thinking that 8-4 were joining up with idle thumbs. They already started hosting TMA.

Yep, we totally do. Unfortunately it probably won't happen until 2013. We're already behind schedule for 2012. Luckily I've got a buddy helping me out with the comedy podcasts we're covering, but even so it still takes a while. It's a lot of fun though, and I only do best-ofs for shows that I like too, so it's never a burden or anything.

Here's the one bad thing about 8-4 Play: it only comes out every two weeks. Can you imagine a weekly 8-4 Play? It would be the best thing ever.

I don't know if those guys even know each other. I mean, I'm pretty sure they know of each other, but I don't know if they're good friends. My first guess was actually that 8-4 would go to the Geekbox network, because Geekbox is more or less made of ex-1UP guys, but then Patrick's hints really make me think it'll be the Big Bomb. Also, they'd definitely get more exposure on Giant Bomb, especially with the GameSpotte linkage.
 
Again, I don't want to get everybody's hopes up in case I turn out to be wrong! Seeing Patrick's tweets, the idea suddenly struck me and I thought I'd share it here to see what you guys thought. Here's hoping I turn out to be right; I think it'll be pretty cool to see the two parties join forces. :)
