It's been been getting 6's and 7's all over. I have it because it came with my Vita, but I'm in n rush to play it.

Considering most AC titles are indeed just above average, those are perfectly fine scores.

I wonder if the move to CBSi means they will get some kind of mendatory PDR process to go through every year. It really would hurt for some of those guys to analyse their flaws and get some healthy criticism.

Just for argument's sake, What kinds of criticism you think they would get from those guys? What changes do you see happening to GB, that would hurt them?

I think he meant it wouldn't hurt them. I think..

And yeah, the GB crew while perfectly fine the way they are, could def use a little..sprucing up.

Oops, yeah was a typo, I meant Wouldn't.

And like Worldrevolution said, I think any contructive criticisim from co-worker and superior is always a good thing for anybody, no matter what's your job. Best way to improve.

These guys made me buy a copy of Sleepy Dogs today. It'd better be worth it!

Now that is how you do a Quick Look.

That is the gosh darn cutest thing I've seen today.

After a while with it, that about sounds right. I cannot ignore the assortment of bugs in this at the moment.

Yeah, performance-reviews in huge mega-corporations are totally great, and not mostly fuelled by personal animosities, crazy ideas the management has and people missing the point! /sarcasm

Looking at CBSi's other content, I'd rather not have a "CNET style" remake of GiantBomb's content line-up. The reason why we like these guys is because they are so unhinged and fresh, not because they put up all their reviews on launch day (who cares about day-one reviews?).

The MO of corporations like CBSi is, pretty much, grinding everything into generic dust. I'd rather not have that happen to my favourite gaming site.

Couple of fun fact about reviews.

-The number of hits a review get on a website drops DRAMATICALLY a couple of days after release
-Hits are what drive your ad revenue
-You ad revenue is what keep your website alive.

It's one thing to publish a review after the fact for a game that they had to go out and buy themselves on day 1 or received on day 1 (like MOH for example)... But there's really no excuse for not being out on day 1 when you receive the game 2-3 weeks before release (like AC3).

Personally I trust reviews that come out late far, far more than reviews that come out immediately upon embargo. The Chick Parabola is real. You need time to marinate on an experience before you can really critique it.

The fact that they aren't killing themselves to get a review up in order to maximize dem clickz is a good thing.

While I don't know whether your claims are true (they seem correct), they probably aren't too relevant to how GiantBomb operates. We aren't discussing the site in multiple threads because of their great reviews, but because of their video content and other articles. We also don't know about their exact revenues and number of ad impressions in relation to game reviews.

Reviews seem mostly a way to bring some additional viewers to the site, to allow them to then slowly discover the rest the Giant Bomb has to offer.

As such, day-one reviews are likely helpful to the site, but not a priority. I'd rather have Ryan not rush through games than have a hastily written text up on the site.

While I understand what you're saying, perhaps written reviews aren't the main draw of the website. Personally I don't read reviews since I know what I like and it has never steered me wrong, however I wouldn't mind exposure to new things delivered through a Quick Look. I bought The Walking Dead immediately after the QL not because the duders sold me on the game, rather I took one look at the game and said "That is a game I know I will like".

I think for GB fans reviews aren't important, but for the site and its revenue I bet they are, unfortunately.

Yeah exactly. Honestly I don't even read reviews for the most part. The quicklooks are what helps me form up my opinion on a game (that and the bombcast talk too)...

However there's a lot of people that care about reviews and I think I remember Jeff saying at some point that the reviews were the pages with the most views on the site (around the day the game is released).

That sounds... odd. I would think most gamers would prefer to watch a video full of dumb shit than read an eloquent and critical review.

Then again, I'm quite cynical.

I don't usually care about their reviews but the AC3 coverage they've done so far is slightly confusing, Ryan seemed to like it on the bombcast but the quick look made it look incredibly inconsistent and flawed. I think it would have been helpful to weigh up the games qualities and give a clear concise verdict in a review. But that is one fairly specific example, in most cases a quick look and some discussion on the bombcast is more than enough for me.

Might be wrong, but I think the consensus on Gaf is that AC3 is a disappointment.

It's all about metacritics sadly.

The sooner that site i nuked from orbit the better. It's not that it's inherently bad, but upper management are too fucked in the head to stop giving it such prominence in determining bonuses. I'd have them drawn and quartered without hesitation.

For the record I don't care about written reviews from GB any more. I can't remember the last time I read one. I get all the info/opinions I need from the Bombcast.

This is not the first time I've seen screen grabs of that Twitter account on GAF.

Considering Ubisoft's E3 conferences it's not really shocking that they got a crazy person doing PR on twitter.
