So glad that Patrick is going down the 999 / VLR rabbit hole.
What software did you use? Motion joy?
Really bad KBAM controls, doesn't seem like I can turn off mouse smoothing, no actual mouse controls in menus, voice recognition rarely works for me, some bad framerate drops on my Radeon 4890.
I should probably just play it with a controller, but I hate having to do that with shooters.
Third person shooters with KB+M blows chunks
Binary Domain controlled excellently with KB/M. You just need to crank the mouse sensitivity all the way up, and change a few key assignments. Controller feels like playing the game with mittens on in comparison.Third person shooters with KB+M blows chunks
I feel like I've stepped into a bizarro world where people think controllers are superior to KB/M for shooters.
Wait until the fanatic (to put it politely) Wiimote or Playstation Motion people come in this thread and claim that holding your arm out and slowly dragging an pointer around on screen is the best method...
How adorable, you all are arguing over which control method for shooters comes in second place to the 3DS's circle pad with touchscreen god combo
I'm still waiting for a 3DS FPS with slide pad movement and motion aiming

Kid Icarus controls like shit.
Kid Icarus controls like shit.
If I wanted speed and precision, I would play something with good controls, like any IR wiimote game, keyboard and mouse shooter. If I wanted to hurt my hands, I'd play Kid Icarus.Yes. I too hate speed and precision in my aiming.

are we at that point in the thread again where brainmcdoogle flips out and gets angry that people have objectively wrong* tastes in electronic toys for manchildren

Let's not go too far, KB+M can't be beat on those two terms. The point is, it's perfectly playable. Those who can't get to grips with it... well, I don't really understand how. I can't blame lack of effort because they don't require much time to adapt to. My brain just can't comprehend it. I don't even need that stand, that's wasted plastic to me.
I've seen people who can't get to grips with dual analogue, and it's fucking mindblowing. This is similar to that.

When you can get a kb+m working on the 3DS, I'd love to know, but I meant speed and precision relative to any other possible control scheme on the platform. When I made my comment, I had in mind those people who would have preferred slower and less accurate dual analogue controls for Kid Icarus.
Nights is still shit.
I can't hold the 3DS unevenly in one hand and the stylus in another while pressing L to do whatever it did for extended periods of time. Especially on a bus or subway. That control scheme works for the short flying sections, not for the ground sections when you have to constantly rotate the camera with the stylus to keep track of enemies. It's not that hard to comprehend. The alternative is ABXY aiming/camera, and that's awful too, which I had to play through most of the game with. So Ill take comfortable yet awful controls where I can support the handheld, y'know, with two hands like every other game that isn't something like Hotel Dusk where you hold it like a book, than controls where I can't. I would have preferred it. It can't be any less accurate than ABXY.When I made my comment, I had in mind those people who would have preferred slower and less accurate dual analogue controls for Kid Icarus.

How do you even do that? How do you have any aiming or camera control pressed up like that? Wouldn't the stylus only be able to hit the edges of the touch screen that way?It is hard to comprehend when I had no trouble doing that at all, although I never tried playing it on anything as crowded as a subway (did play it on trains quite often). I had zero issue tracking enemies.
I think I pressed my stylus hand against the right corner of the 3DS when I played, so I wasn't holding it unevenly but had the side of my stylus hand supporting the console as well. Which I didn't have a problem with. If you were holding it with just one hand, I can see why you might have issues. You can't play like that.
But fuck that stand. Unnecessary, and makes them look like god damn jokers.
If you are aiming at anything I will take even bad KB/M over a controller any day of the week.
I spend more time fighting the controller trying to aim than playing the game itself.

You know, honestly, I feel pretty bad whenever a Kid Icarus thread comes up or when the topic comes up, cause there are so many ardent fans of the game here yet I had a tough time trying to enjoy it. I like a lot of things in the game like the weapon system, Sakurai's panel achievements, the ability to tackle missions TWEWY style, the presentation, the voice acting, the humor, etc. It's all held back for me because of the controls and I feel like I'm raining on people's parade cause Kid Icarus fans are really vocal and I always feel the need to say NOPE. I hate when people shit on games I like and I hate being the guy that does that.

It begins.
soon he will learn to hate dice like the rest of us
hope he doesn't play the 3ds version (does he even have a vita?).
Might just be me, but those dice puzzles love to hardlock the system if it takes too long for ya to solve.

Wow, this game looks amazing. Never heard of it before.
