I enjoyed that feature. I wasn't sure a single person could pull off a show because segments usually work best when there are at least two people playing off each other, but the more intimate setting worked in this case.

Well, he could have used someone yelling at him to fix the rate of the stream and get off wifi as everyone in the chat was doing. Something better than a Mac Air wouldn't hurt either:). I look forward to episode two.

what are some of the best episodes of the Giant Bombcast? I listened to the RE6 podcast last week and really liked it a lot! These guys are awesome

If you want to have your mind blown you should check out the This Year Collection's compilations of the old Hotspot podcast.

I listen to one whenever I need a emergency 4 hours of something to listen to and a lot of it is a complete tonal shift from the bombcast. Its weird going back to it.

Back then they actually talked about news and had serious discussions about the topics and seemed to research the topics ahead of time.

The California Extreme podcasts are always amazing, especially last years. Also the recent China Don't Care podcast was great.

There is some classic stuff in there. The Gizmondo/Dietrich saga, dumb Jack Thompson stuff, talking about the launch of the Wii and ps3, "gaming for me is a religion".

Everyone is much younger and just seem to be less jaded about everything and its just cool to listen to gaming news from the mid 00's.

Nothing like recommending him something that is not the Bombcast when he wants to listen to the Bombcast.

What are some good This America Life episodes? Well if you want, you should go back and listen to some Science Fridays, they offer a complete tonal change and they actually talk about science and stuff along those lines.

well, "This Year" should still be referenced for their 5 years of bombcast "best of" compilations. there's a crazy amount of hours in there. great stuff.

(Hotspot archive is still good but has a different vibe)

Because I tend to focus on the game which I prefer to watch, and that is sometimes getting skimmed into the smaller window.

The games they are playing are never, ever, ever EVER NEVER EVER all that interesting. The only fun is what they talk about and how they react to stuff going on in the games. Being able to flip between two games stops any awkward silences. This is the solution to the problem with how TNTs currently are. If they play a game that's actually interesting to watch, one stream is just fine.

Who did the art for the Spookin with scoops intro image? The girl that did the Bombcast image and quest artwork kinda left the site.

I just realized Skylanders Giants releases this week. I hope they have something ridiculous planned for it. I loved the Jeff/Ryan quick look of the original.

edit: Holy fuck there are a lot of games coming out next week.

I don't like the "this year" compilations because of the overwhelming inclusion of the live podcasts from E3 and the like.

Sure there are parts that are absolute gold but most of it is just 7 guys who I don't really care for screaming at each other without any coherence or moderation. Just give me the 5-man team in the podcast room and i'm good.

Watching them playing in the Pro Evo 13 QL makes my head hurt and shake.
That sounds uncomfortable and not at all related to the video I watched of the QL.

Best part was easily Vinny's excitement over the big jump his player did only to completely miss the wide open shot, hahahaha

Just watched the Blade Runner stream. Awesome. So glad there was no Ryan and I love that Dave's going to keep on going. He's doing one of the best games ever total justice.

Nice to see he struggled with the explosion part. Man, fuck that scene!

Gonna watch the Patrick stream tomorrow I think...

The ones where Ryan goes on vacation are usually pretty great. Ryan is a really good host and keeps things mostly movie, but Jeff will let tangents go a little longer than normal. There was one a little while back where they talked about ham radios and number stations for a long time and it was awesome. But then, the one from this year when Jeff was off and Dave filled in, and they went on a tangent about bug-out bags and stuff was also really great.

You could probably pick any episode and find something you like, but I found that going back to the start and just listening to them is a good way to get a feel for each guy's personality and whatnot.

I've personally done this several times over the last few years, just loop them all from the beginning. The humor ages like a fine wine, but it's always a fun way to remember what's happened in the industry.

I've also found it a good way to catch up on games I might have missed and forgotten.

Same here. I probably listened to all of them at least twice, if it isn't three times already.

Just whenever I have a boring commute, long drive (which is very often) or when I simply need some background chatter I put on a bombcast.
Like right now, when i'm playing Pokemon Black 2.

The only ones I skip are the live ones, I feel they somehow don't age well at all.

I find the stuff they say funny but the way they play the game.. it's because I used to be good at playing football games I guess.

Agreed on the live ones... and panels. A little chaotic. And I tend to avoid interviews/guests. I come to GB to hear the core crew.

I probably listen to each week's episode at least 3 times during the week, just because it helps me work (programming and art stuffs). In fact, now that I'm in a downtime with work, I find it VERY hard not to have the Bombcast playing in the background. I've finally got time to play some games, and I only play stuff muted so that I can listen to a podcast or quicklook. It's a sickness.

I believe the start of 2012 had some excellent episodes.
These two were particularly nice, from what I remember:

But, like Bjork suggested, starting from the beginning is great. It's got a much slower start at the beginning since it's just Ryan/Jeff talking about drinks, but when Vinny and Brad showed up it got great.
