Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

Leigh Alexander has on numerous occasions shown herself to be a colossal moron, and I'm sorry, but me being a man and her being a woman doesn't invalidate that opinion because it's 'teh sexisms'.

People calling Leigh all kinds of names has nothing to do with the fact she is a woman. It's because people on the Internet are insensitive assholes who don't think how their words can affect the other person.

I am sure she recieved gender oriented insults or attacks in the fallout, and I don't know how much stock you must put into that. If she wasn't a woman she would have been call all the other names in the book, because these are idiots, and they would have found a way to get a reaction out of her.

Even in this thread, where we know GB editors visit, people call some out and say some really not cool stuff. It doesn't matter what the sex of the person is, assholes will be assholes.

This topic is never productive, never advances, and has been beaten into the ground. Can we please go back to discussing Brad and his anime fetishes?

Also, I need people to test my Persona 4 weather app on the iphone. Anyone want to help?

Regardless of whether the flak she took was 'too much' or if 'a man would have gotten less flak' it's poor form for her to put that up against stories of women in this industry working hard and being direspected. Maybe she trying to avoid further criticism by hiding behind the story thinking no one would pile on and criticize an a legitimatley important issue.

What do I gotta do?

That's a great question. I've never done testing on devices I don't have contact with, so I don't really know how to send out the app to people for testing, but I assume I need the UUID of the device in question to add to my provisional account.

If anyone is interested in helping, send me a PM, along with your favorite P4/Teddy/Endurance Run quote, and I'll get back to you in a day or so when I research how this all works.

Leigh Alexander is brought up probably every three months in this thread, and she is continually getting verbally attacked by crazy GB fans. It IS getting obnoxious - finally lay this stuff to rest.

Hilarious and absurd drunken rants tend to leave a lasting impression. It was funny then and it's funny now. Why should it be put to rest?

Because continual ad hominem attacks on a person in public by internet assholes aren't cool and only serve to lower this threads quality.

I would like to see Brad watch Gurren Lagann

Brad and Vinny. LETS DO THIS GENTS.

If you didn't even watch it all, why are you still incensed many years later? And why do you feel qualified to judge her character on a public forum?

And I don't think she doesn't see her appearance as an embarassement (as evidenced by her blog post), but the fact that people can't seem to let this go speaks bounds.

Pretty much what I wrote spelled out in detail.

Do you have other hobbies besides ranting incoherantly and illogically in circles defending goofy causes via mudslinging random passers-by or is this a class S++ troll and we've all been had?

What do you guys think Brad's favorite anime is

Brad strikes me as a Shonen man. A man who likes a good action scene, but can appreciate some humor and sexual tension that never gets resolved. Given Brad's legendary love of babies and school uniforms I guess Katekyō Hitman Reborn (ignoring the filler of course! Brad isn't a peasant)

I've made two posts about what I think. I'm not being an asshole and I want to discuss this. You are trying really, REALLY hard to defend and get the conversation anywhere else and that's fine. If it bother's you so much you should just wait until it dies down because forcing it isn't going to help.

Do you have any other hobbies besides mudslinging people for things you apparently haven't even watched?

Edit: The constant 'jokes' about the Anime Brad isn't actually watching and the Manga he isn't reading every single day in this thread don't lower the quality? Hey guys I hear Brad is leaving. At least the conversation is related to a relavent article

This isn't a subject that is going to strike up any reasonable discussion on NeoGAF.

Yes, this thread is often terrible, but you know what's worse than jokes? The same tired old attacks over and over.

The fact that she apologized for her drunkenness on her blog didn't stop the GiantBomb "community" from harassing her - just think back to the chat as well as the comments on her blog. And apparently this appearance three years ago cut some people here so deep that they continue to bring it up constantly (past GB threads, E3 thread, every GB chat).

The present GB crew also acted pretty questionable towards her, in such a way they never ever again discussed this event: I see a double-standard compared to other, male, obnoxious drunks present on podcasts. I didn't see Rorie being shunned after his strange appearance on the Octoberkast, or Dyack never discussed again. Other obnoxious drunks were made fun of openly, and not only ridiculed behind their backs.

Plenty of the hate she got was geared towards her gender. Why the hell is only she constantly brought up, mainly by people that don't know any of her other work?

No she didn't, and this isn't what was meant. You are deliberately misinterpreting a drunken comment.

Someone drunk was obnoxious and apologized for the fact. We can never let this go!

How dare she not be of the same opinion as me, couldn't she ask a man first before writing her opinions?

I find her articles to be well-articulated and often insightful: A writer doesn't have to be "right" all the time to deserve respect.

Alexander must have really slighted you guys - still so bitter just because of a relatively short appearance on a general drunk-cast two years ago.

Oh, are we ganging up on Leigh Alexander again? Probably the most unpleasant (and sexist) part of the Giantbomb thread-cycle.

People really continually hate and harass her, just because she was drunk one time (on a stream where plenty of other drunk people were obnoxious as well). It's not like the GiantBomb crew acted all to classy in that stream, making fun of her as soon as she turned her back really isn't something they should be proud of.

If any of you actually bothered to read Leigh Alexanders work, you'd see that she actually does write insightful articles and columns: She is a great gaming journalist.

Why does she have to apologize? Why does this come up constantly in the GiantBomb community? Get over it, she didn't harm you in any way.

I don't know if it's the stream, being an early build, or intentional, but I kind of like the stuttery movements the enemy has from time to time. Really gets that Harryhausen feel.

He brought up the issues he has with Monster Hunter which really seems to come down to animation priority in combat and controls. This game seems to share those aspects.
