Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

What "I" like and what Giantbomb, or others, like is very different. For example, Tokyo Jungle is a joke of a game that is only entertaining for a few hours, and mostly because of its ridiculous premise. Patrick rationalized his enjoyment of it some other way (though on twitter, when pushed, described his fondness for the game as something that could "only come out of Japan", but earlier said that the game isn't just about its weirdness. whatever). Then, there's The Walking Dead, which I enjoyed immensely, but for simpler reasons than what some people give. (Game gets too much praise just because it is a "serious" story).

I tend to ask people I know who are really into movies/games/books two questions: What is their favorite whatever, and what is the best whatever they've ever seen or read? More often than not, those are two different answers, and the enjoyment of discussion isn't what they listed, but why those two questions don't have the same answer. And, more often than not, the people who list the same question are pretentious and boring, saying Citizen Kane is the best and favorite movie, or more recently, Vertigo (or whatever is the thing of the year).

I like a lot of stuff, including Walking Dead. I think it's hard to compare someone's taste in films and games because people like those things for different reasons. Is Walking Dead a well written and acted video game? Of course. Do I think it would work if judged as a piece of high budget television or movie, of course not. People were writing in Persona 4 as well written in a thread (fuck no).

In the end, I just think a lot of people in this thread (perhaps the Giant Bomb crew haven't yet looked at the list) are ignoring some games that came out earlier in the year. I can't think of a single game that had as much great content at $15 than Trials Evolution.

I thought Jeff was looking at the ISF, which is like a $60,000 ride. The Challenger isn't remotely close to being in the same class.

I wonder who Giantbomb will hire as the next Anime editor since Brad is leaving.

Kessler.

I miss Kessler :(

His first run with GB was a bit rough and he did try too hard to be Ryan Jr but once they started letting the interns do their own video stuff for youtube he did some good stuff. Heck he was producing more quality content then the main 4 guys for most of that summer.

Crazy talk!

Also not to distract from the excitement about all those Nintendo tapes, but if I remember correctly we also never saw the rest of the Jurassic Park games. I wanted to see them in all their terrible glory!

YESSSSSSS

We're on a victory path here

Hold up, we can't celebrate just yet, I've seen a few cases where people soured on the true ending... this could tip either way still

Twist: Jintor is Brad's alt account, to try and transfer the curse of "Anime Editor" over to Patrick.

edit: and also to get him to play Crippled Girls because he wants to talk to someone about the the emotionally exhausting story conclusion of Elaine.
I don't know any of their names. Sorry.

Katawa Shoujo and Emi, but Rin is the one he would really want.

I would be honoured to be Brad's alt account! Dose dulcet tones!

IN SCOOPS WE TRUST, he will lead us into the light.

Then get Vinny to play 999!

I think he said "You would really enjoy it", but I can't remember if it was to Jeff or Vinny.

Jeff really liked the P4A VN sections (fuck, I want that game, god damnit Europe)... but Vinny is generally the 'open to new experiences' guy

The best thing about last years GOTY award videos was how Vinny clearly put more work into his then anyone else.

He had different backdrops, costume changes, a actual story for scene to scene.

Impressive really.

I dont know how they can top what they did last year. It was so dumb.
