And.....I just bought the PC version of Dark Souls. Loved but never beat the 360 version. Starting all over is ok by me. Might be my favorite game of this generation...

It's more of an endorsement than giving Brad voter majority. :P

Well, it'll certainly win best fighting game. Because fuckall else came out this year.

It's between P4A and skullgirls.

How many of this year's notable games have all five of them finished?

XCOM? Dishonored? ME3? AC3? Walking Dead?

By the end of this week? Probably all of them. Pretty sure everyone played XCOM when it was new and the only other one that's a real time sink is ME3

Out of no where, The Witcher 2 EE comes out on top as a result of a surprisingly convincing and passionate campaign led by Patrick and backed up by Vinny.

In all likelihood, and after catching up on some podcasts, it seems that XCom is the most universally liked game. The only thing that could get in it's way is someone who will accept nothing less than their #1 pick.

I hope they do fun personal GOTY videos again, because I don't really care otherwise. I felt last year was a cop out pick and the podcasts boil down to shitting on games with nitpicky stuff to dismiss them. Shitting on Saints Row for faults that could just as easily be applied to Skyrim was awful.

This year kind of sucked for big releases too, except for some digital stuff.

Last year TW2 couldn't even win 1 category against Dead Island =( At least it won best graphics I think.

Mark of the Ninja is going to stealth in for GotY.

But downloadable games can't be GOTY. They are not AAA experiences backed up by megastudios with millions of dollars in budget :O

Ugh. That might be the only game I bought at launch this year, too. -.- Still playing it a lot but it is not everything I wanted it to be.

EDIT: Oh I guess I bought KH3D when it came out. Again, good, could've been a bit better.

...if I was there... all I'm saying.

I think their GotY process might be the most ridiculous bit of videogame criticism I've ever witness. I can only imagine every other publication is just as bad. It is illuminating.

Didn't Vinny stop playing Dishonered because he didn't like it?

I think it was more that he thought he wasn't doing well in it; that he couldn't effectively play the way he wanted to.

Which is one of the more valid arguments against Dishonored. The gameplay and goals has a really bad friction when rubbing against the narrative. It's why the story comes off as weak(IMO).

Definitely. But in all the blockbusters that they're scrambling to play, I bet this is the one that everyone forgets to hit.

I could see it being 2013's 2012's game of the year.

Ryan just talked about it on Twitter today, so I don't think they'll forget it. I think they've all played it now too, not sure about Jeff but the rest have.

Why would ME3 spoilers be in a game of the year podcast? The only logical reason would be ME3 being considered a candidate for GOTY, which is absolute madness.

How I would have ended ME3:

Shepard wakes up in hospital on earth. He has been in a comma since touching the beacon on Eden Prime. Shepard's adventure was how his unconscious mind coped with the brain trama he suffered as his brain is repairing.

The ending scenes show how he struggles to adjust to the normalities of civilian life after he is medically discharged with the Navy.

We probably haven't advanced enough as a society to give a furry game GOTY

Having been in the Dust thread, the backlash would be massive and idiotic.

Dust just barely missed being on my list. I think it's my number 11.

I hate that I can't say retarded anymore. I feel like that's my generation's slur that we still want to keep, but can't due to political correctness.

So you're saying The Phantom Pain is actually Mass Effect 4? I'll take it!

Have we learned nothing from Dallas?

I really want to play it, but I've only got my PS3 :(

Same for Mark of the Ninja, but to be honest that probably could run on my laptop if I bothered to try.

"Most Oh-Right-That-Came-Out-This-Year" game.

Tie between Diablo III, Future Soldier and SSX.

I'm really looking forward to this, I've only got in to GB this year so this is the first GOTY I 'll see as it happens :P

I do think personally XCOM will win and TWD will be 2nd. Most disappointing will be fun to see, so many choices this year =/

I wouldn't be surprised to see some dark horses like Mark of the Ninja or maybe Fez sneak into the discussion too.

MOTN maybe, Fez? No.

Best DLC is going to get HEATED

Brad (Leviathan) vs. Vinny (Asura's Wrath)

I don't get it, Leviathan really isn't anything special or significant outside of a couple plot points right at the end =/

Did anybody play Dust: An Elysian Tail besides Brad? Because that fucking game deserves some recognition.

yep, that game just seems to have fallen off the radar after release; shame cos it's great!
