Is Brad wrong about Elder Scrolls Online? I thought you still had to buy the game for $60 but they are removing the subscription fee? He indicated it was Free 2 Play, or are there two versions?

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. Pretty sure they just dropped the monthly subsriptions, but you still need to buy it up front. Unless I'm missing something.

Yea, Brad used the wrong term. Still $60.

Yeah, I didn't really have much of a problem with what Dan said, about the ink ribbon thing: the typewriters pretty much all have the universal box next to them, so you really don't have to carry them around taking up an inventory slot, but someone who hasn't played much might not realize that at first.

I think some new players get confused because you first get 3 ink ribbons at the typewriter in the dining hall, and there's no chest there. So they get into the bad habit of carrying around ink ribbons.

I always try and work my ink ribbons down so I just have a bunch of single ribbons left so when I save I don't have to go back to the chest.

Brad and Dan were absolutely wrong about the Resident Evil Revelations 2 content plans.

The season pass includes every episode and the bonus ones.

So, I'm a pretty big fan of Brad and listening to him talk about games, but this community seems to be pretty bummerish about him. Is it just since he picked up hosting duties or do people just not jive with his opinions? Just curious!

I should be surprised that Dan called the Godfather 'too cliché', but I'm not. It reminds me of people who complained that the Who ruined that one Limp Bizkit song.

Yeah, cringe worthy. He doesn't know the differnce between a margarita and martini either. His descent into Karl Pilkington territory continues.

Dan telling Brad to wear something for Paul seems like a troll. Looking forward to seeing what Brad wears, lol

This podcast shows what I'd been worried about for a while. Jeff is the glue holding the west crew together and without him the show is terrible. I really hope Jeff hangs around for a long time because I guess the day he leaves is the day I leave.

???

Not seeing this. Post Ryan's passing and that space between Vinny jetting for NY and Dan showing up was the only real lulls in the show.

It's really not about how Dan should be loving those things. It's really more akin to Brad's quip about it all just being "busy work." On top of that, they mention how Nintendo went back and were willing to change stuff up in classic Zelda games, but they completely miss the part that this is exactly what the inclusion of Crimson Heads did. It enhances the effectiveness of the inventory management and risk of backtracking, which further adds to the tension.

I swear, "streamlining" has become one of my most hated terms in regards to how it is used in video games.

And the danger is games built to attract the least attracted, leading to games made as innoffensive and homogeonized as possible. It's a VERY slippery slope if designers go too far in that direction and demonsterably iffy financially.

is doctor dog the dog doctor just a doctor who is a dog, or is he a doctor who is a dog that is only a doctor for dogs?

Doctor dog is a dog doctor, not a dog doctor.

Will never, ever, ever not be funny.

Jason was able to come out as Pro-Monster Hunter. Wonder what will happen when Jeff finds out. Stay safe man.

"New premium feature: Jarring Jeff 1: Monster Hunter 4 with Jeff and Jason!"

I should be surprised that Dan called the Godfather 'too cliché', but I'm not. It reminds me of people who complained that the Who ruined that one Limp Bizkit song.

Who are these people so that I may backhand them.

Almost to the end of the podcast, got to the part about Norm Macdonald's roast of Bob Saget. As soon as they started discussing that, I went to Youtube and looked it up. At first I had the typical reaction of "Why is he doing these lame jokes?" but then it hit me that he was actually roasting Bob Saget because Bob could've told any one of those jokes on America's Funniest Home Videos back in the day. Even as a kid I knew the jokes on that show were absolutely terrible. Did anybody else think Norm was getting that meta? Apparently he just wanted to tell bad jokes because he was asked to be outrageous, but I like my interpretation a lot better.

Their conversation about Resident Evil...

The story behind that is that the producer of the show told Norm to be as shocking as he could. His set was a "fuck you" to the producer. He got all the jokes from a '60s roast joke book his father had given him.

People nit pick everything (that's the point of these threads), it doesn't mean Brad isn't liked here.

Man, this RE1 discussion is rough. Too bad there's no one on the crew that actually likes RE the way it used to play before it became an action game to sort of balance out the negatively of Dan and Brad who really didn't seem to appreciate why RE1 is designed like that.

Did it sound like Peter Griffin in Family Guy when he orders 900,000 chicken vagitas?

Everyone in the dorm laughed at that joke. Everyone but me. Peter fell on that sword for me.

I really hope they get to show why Monster Hunter is so fun. It does go into one of Jeff's comments; People have to start specializing/get good at certain games like Monster Hunter or Dota or a fighting game. Might be hard to "sell it" on a quick look but the game's moments it creates are amazing.

I totally agree. It reminds me of Vinny playing open world games. He really shows you how to have a good time with that genre.

We like Brad. Brad posts here. I think every member of the crew is liked by mostly everyone. We call them out when we think they do crazy things such as not putting Destiny as most disappointing game of the year or putting Destiny as the tenth best game of the year, but disagreements aren't a sign of dislike or bummerish about any of them.

I don't either

Playing as Chris after playing as Jill is great fun despite their being only six item slots cause you have a fair idea of where everything is and what you need to do. So you know to leave the emblem above the fireplace in the dining hall until you actually need it.

If Mark MacDonald listens I'm sure he'll have some feedback on the next 8-4play.

Yes. I like all the Duders (even fucking crazy Brad), but that doesn't protect them from getting their shit called out.

Fanboy circlejerking is the worst.

Like other are saying, I'm pretty sure must of us like Brad quite a bit.

He does have some divisive opinions, though, so it's not like every Giant Bomb fan should be expected to agree with him about everything.

The Resident Evil talk was teeth-grindingly awful. I get that it's not for everyone, but to hear them talk as if RE is just haphazardly designed and things like item management are just in there "as busywork/padding" is hnnnnng. I expect better from game critics. Well, not Dan, and increasingly not Brad either (he's becoming as dismissive as Jeff), but still. Frustrating.

I don't think so. I'd love to see Drew play through the OoT Water Temple. If you were talking about TP or SS then yeah I'd definitely agree.

Seeing Drew play through OOT would be fascinating to me because I've known how to get through that game by memory for years now. Would be interesting to see what trips a new player up.

Yeah same here. I think OoT is the best starting point personally. It does a great job of establishing the Zelda lore and (imo) has the best dungeon design.

I enjoy Brad as a host because he keeps the podcast moving along. But, his delivery sometimes drives me crazy.

"Emails! So, uh, I wasn't sure about this email. Uh. It starts out normal but then *nervous laugh* gets kind of gross! Uh. So I'll read it anyway. Dear Bombcast. Oh. Oh this is from. Uh. Hold on. Trying to bring up the spreadsheet... here. This is from Keith. Dear Bombcast.

And that happens so much! He meanders through a stream of consciousness on a hot mic. Brad, get your thoughts organized!

Resident Evil talk aside, great 'cast this week. Jason's a great presence.

I can wait. Forever. Tired of Jeff's opinion on Majora. He will never like it. Brad may eventually come to like it, and then Jeff will be all alone, bitter and unhappy.

Another reason I can't wait for Mario Party Party 3!
