Giant Bombcast - 01/27/15

The Resident Evil talk was teeth-grindingly awful. I get that it's not for everyone, but to hear them talk as if RE is just haphazardly designed and things like item management are just in there "as busywork/padding" is hnnnnng. I expect better from game critics. Well, not Dan, and increasingly not Brad either (he's becoming as dismissive as Jeff), but still. Frustrating.

Awful is an understatement...

-I have to waste a slot on an ink ribbon, even though people told me there's an item box right by almost every save point in the game.

-Limited saves and inventory slots are stupid don't make the game more tense or add anything to the game, so there's no reason to treat them as sacrosanct.

No wonder Dan thinks playing as Chris is impossible if he's handicapping himself by carrying around an ink ribbon the whole time.

Personally I think it's all gross, but eating the swimming tongue that is a catfish seems more unappetizing than a cockroach-like lobster.

I enjoy Brad as a host because he keeps the podcast moving along. But, his delivery sometimes drives me crazy.

"Emails! So, uh, I wasn't sure about this email. Uh. It starts out normal but then *nervous laugh* gets kind of gross! Uh. So I'll read it anyway. Dear Bombcast. Oh. Oh this is from. Uh. Hold on. Trying to bring up the spreadsheet... here. This is from Keith. Dear Bombcast.

And that happens so much! He meanders through a stream of consciousness on a hot mic. Brad, get your thoughts organized!

The next email comes from, um Im not sure, I forgot to copy the name. The subject of this email is, um I don't know, I forgot to copy it.

This happens every episode!

I find it funny when Brad says I can't beleive I'm reading this email. You pre-screened it Brad, you don't have to read it. But please do, because usually they are gross and/or funny.

People nit pick everything (that's the point of these threads), it doesn't mean Brad isn't liked here.

Like other are saying, I'm pretty sure must of us like Brad quite a bit.

He does have some divisive opinions, though, so it's not like every Giant Bomb fan should be expected to agree with him about everything.

Perfect! Yeah, I was curious only because he seemed to get more flack. but when you frame it that way, I guess I didn't really know the point of the thread. Makes sense to me now!

Yes. I like all the Duders (even fucking crazy Brad), but that doesn't protect them from getting their shit called out.

Fanboy circlejerking is the worst.

A problem arises when the people "calling shit out" occasionally lack the self-awareness to realize that their own opinions are in fact "fucking crazy" to a lot of people.

What I'm saying is some people could stand to live and let live a little more often.

I had no idea how defensive people are about RE1. He's allowed to think that the inventory management is dumb, item box or no.

He's completely free to dislike any design decisions, but from what he says it's pretty obvious he and Brad don't really understand the reason why the game is designed that way in the first place.

Just finished the cast. It was surprisingly good despite a lack of Jeff!

I gotta say, though, I have a very hard time believing all of these "what my girlfriend/wife thinks of the crew" things. Everything that is supposedly their words is a bit too on point and specific to be from someone who doesn't follow the site...

There should be a premium feature of Jeff and Jason playing PSO on a hacked together server. I bet people from the community would get it set up to play with them.

Can't help but think some of those emails are just made up by listeners.

I've got a pretty strong feeling that all but the original one (maybe even that one, too) have been faked.

Like the whole Saudi Arabia (or was it UAE?) prince e-mail. That was a dubious e-mail. It would be cool if it was real, especially for Drew, since it stated that they could invite him to ride in an F1 vehicle or something. Drew's reaction was great.

I'd guess most of them have been.

Especially since it was announced that any of the funny ones will be read.
That already happened when the Australia beef started picking up steam until eventually the crew realised that folks trying to be funny aren't funny at all and dropped the beef.

I love it when people take the the podcast so seriously. It's hilarious. The podcast is just a bunch of friends talking about games and other stuff casually. It doesn't claim to be anything else. Also, if they said something you don't like, so what? Politely correct them or move on. They aren't some all knowing entity, they are humans with limited time to spend on things.
