I must take issue with Dave's remark about Sigourney Weaver operating the loader in Aliens. He implied that because she could do it, that means anyone could. Clearly he's forgetting she's had experience working with one before (there was a line or two of dialogue about this).
I think getting into one of those things for the first time with no training would probably be a good way to hurt yourself, others or damage cargo, and I would presume it would be the same thing with a full size mech that operated on those same principles.
I submit that operating an old school style mech with buttons and all that, and operating a more futuristic style mech with a full body harness and force feedback, would both require a fair amount of training and a different set of skills.
