Giant Bombcast 03-29-2011

The Zojirushi chat is terribly unfunny.
Yeah its totally gross that this blatant product placement is taking over the Bombcast. Only a matter of time before its the "Giant Bombcast brought to you by Zojirushi" and then the "Giant Zojirushicast" as Giant Bomb would get bought out by Zojirushi and retooled into a database for thermoses and rice cookers

grrrr, new work firewall won't let me get to anything on the giantbomb.com domain due to "games/gaming" I need my podcast! Anyone know an alternate host?

I don't think the BOMBCAST guys read neogaf.

BUT FOR FUCK SAKE. STOP FUCKING YELLING.

I absolutely hate it when they holler and yell for no reason. My fucking ears.

As deafening as it can be, I love it when Jeff goes fucking nuts. Reminds me of the old Gamespot days when he used to it lots.
Ya it truly is wonderful. When he and Ryan mimic a radio station I was dying.

Ryan needs to get that kid on the Happy Hour and let the Whiskey Media crew teach him how to be cool

Blue 3DS in one hand hand and a giant adorable elephant Zojirushi thermos in the other and he is fucking set to go

The Black 3DS is only a stop gap

Yay, more Bioware cocksucking. No idea how they do it, but they must have the best PR on the planet.

Vinny didn't do anything of the sort.

If there PR was that good DA2 wouldn't be sitting at 79 on Metacritic. At least, that's what Bioware's PR people are surely hearing from their bosses.

What are you talking about? Vinny and Jared spent a lot of time ripping on the game's flaws (particularly reused environments).

And if the world was a wonderful place the score would be even lower.

Saying that you no longer have to worry about strategic positioning and then saying combat isn't any different from DA:O to DA2 is ridiculous.

I don't know what it was like on 360 but positioning was damn important when you were blasting AoE with your op mages.

Vinny and Jared were pretty spot on with their assessment of DA2. I like that Vinny pointed out the stone barriers that blocked off paths in the recycled dungeons. Really lame way to make them seem different.

Btw, nice to hear Jared on the Bombcast again.

Yeah it was an odd comment, but then Jared said he only played it on 360. He doesn't realize how watered down the console versions of the original origins are compared to the PC version. Setting up your party's tactical menu is not the only form of strategy. There is a reason for the overhead view in Origins because the PC version throws many more enemies at you at once than on a console. Positioning your characters to team up on enemies or even flank them matters. You also had to worry about area of effect for spells.

Console combat in DAO is totally different than PC cuz console ver don't have over the top view and the UI is also different. Jared was actually correct in his comments about it. I also heard PC version is way harder than console ver as well.

Holy crap, and people liked that?! Without strategy and tactics, DA:O must have been atrocious.

I played through an Origin on 360 and it is basically a heavily watered down action game. Going from Dragon Age to Dragon Age 2 on a console is a step up. It is a step down though going from the tactics on PC. ANOTHER WAVE.

Yup, I can see why PC DAO players hated changes in DA2 while console players actually didn't mind the changes. We actually got the better end of the stick.

Return of the Zojirushi talk is awesome. The funny thing is that my Aunt actually works for them, which is why my entire family got rice cookers and thermoses for days. Every year there's a trade show in San Francisco and my aunt has to take care of all the reps that make the trip to the show. Now that I think of it, it's quite possible that I could put Bombcast in contact with some official reps come San Francisco trade show time.

The changes to DA2 were by far the most ignorable issues that game had.

The enemy numbers are heavily reduced on the console versions. Because of this, the main mechanic of the game being crowd control on the PC version is absent on the console versions.

No offense to console Origins players, but you really don't know anything about the real Dragon Age.

Nice to have a high energy Bombcast. Between PAX and DICE, it sounded like they were half dead the last few episodes.
I was thinking about this. The last couple of shows were still fun to listen to but the guys sounded pretty tired. I was thinking to myself maybe they should take a week off or something.

Good to hear they sound like they have their energy back. :D Will listen later today. :)

I can't get enough of the Extreme Radio Station sound effects and chatter, love it, love it, love it.

Jared was good on the show. fit in well. enjoyed the episode.

No offense but Vinny comes off as such a clueless and slow person. Last week he was not sure the blood explosion in Dragon Age was a glitch or normal, this week he needed people to tell him to maybe lower the settings to get better performance. And like magic that worked. Shouldn't it be obvious to fiddle with the settings? Just hurts to sometimes listen to him.

Would you happen to know if they're hiring? They should like a company of well repute.
