And I do have a question.
Reading all these build tips has me wondering. How do you build effective characters and teams in CT? Is it really stuffing certain characters with all sorts of tabs, proper leveling, or is it something else?
It's a combination of things. But basically because of CT's use of dual/triple tech, it is about synergy, then equipment, build type, and tabbing. Leveling is not a focus. And I do have a question.

Why? Some people play CT multiple times, I've lost count. Do you expect people to really not put thought into making fun and proper builds? Some people here are overthinking the "builds".
Okay. All you guys who are getting onto them about not reading the text are seriously going to have an aneurism today. Take your blood pressure medicine before you watch.
It's really bad. Reeeeeally bad.
What is considered proper? People could play it any way they like and it works out. It's all preference, imo. I'm referring to earlier posts where people posted that only a certain combo is the "best."It's a combination of things. Proper would be efficiency in my book. I personally am going to make the best build I can with my team in an RPG. Isn't that common practice? Now, the level of thought put in can vary of course. Like slap on some shit that sounds good and go. But when you play a game a lot, you mix things up and find what works better. So you end up with an efficient build, which I would call properly put together. What is considered proper? People could play it any way they like and it works out. It's all preference, imo. Yea, there was a ton of what works "best" posts. I was posting about broken builds earlier but I try to never recommend anything. Unless we are talking about tips. But I don't think it is out of the question to think through the builds you make. Truthfully though, I am someone who always looks to break everything I play.
After watching this episode, am I the only one who actually wonders about their ability to review games if that's how they play them?
Not really. Reviewers are generally shit at games and guess what, so is the majority of the gaming public. In a way watching other people play games like this makes it clear to me why virtually every game today is made with idiots in mind. You want to know why Fi in Skyward Sword constantly bugs your ass to remind you of the obvious? Here's exactly why. People either don't pay attention, can't be arsed to use their brain whilst gaming or are too dumb to figure out the obvious. I think Ryan even said it in one of the ER episodes. Games of today have made him lazy, because these days its barely a requirement to pay attention to the in game text. After watching this episode, am I the only one who actually wonders about their ability to review games if that's how they play them?
Epic adventure.I've got Chrono Trigger DS coming in the mail today. I know nothing about it, have never played a Final Fantasy game but I have played and love Super Mario RPG. I have been in the mood for a fun traditional RPG with magic and cool weapons and upgrades and a cool story. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and try to play all the major classic games so that's the main reason I decided to grab this game.
What can I expect?

Are they at the Ocean Palace now?! That's my other favourite part of the game. :OSome people here are overthinking the "builds". The game is flexible enough that you can use any members and they will work fine in the group.
After watching this, I forgot how much I loved this dungeon music.
You're kidding... Mmm...Danielsan said:Have to admit, I laughed my ass off at them dying on the blue and red Scouts. Still, it's pretty god damn incredible that:
1. They don't seem to grasp the colour coding. Yellow scout gets hit by lightning, kills them in 1 hit, yet they never wonder if casting water on the blue scout would be a good idea.
2. They don't grasp the colour coding even when the text is telling them quite clearly to only cast a certain type of magic.
Yep! Totally agreed with all of this. I've played Chrono Trigger a lot so mixing up the playstyle to go with harder teams or more efficient teams every now and then make ATB 2.0 really damn fun to play with again and again.gunbo13 said:Proper would be efficiency in my book. One perfect Hiroyuki Ito-designed battle system in ATB 2.0 (the other perfect one is ATB Kai/Dresspheres). Play with it a little bit, you'll have lots of fun if you do.The Lamonster said:What can I expect?
Nice responses
Does this game have magic? Like, can I cast a fireball or magic missile or something with one of my characters?
And does it have those timed hits like in Mario RPG/Paper Mario?
Time hats, though.Yes magic, no timed hits.
Let me guess, they are never going to use Confuse because they think it induces Confusion. :/

Trying to grasp how one dies at those enemies, but that sounds hilarious.
Basically it's just the result of Ryan spamming full-screen attacks against low-level enemies like he normally does, except this time the low-level enemies have immunity and a counter-spell and by the time he realizes it he's already cast three all-enemy attacks which results in death across the board. The fun part is that he does it twice.

It's absolutely hilarious to watch.
I'm very interested to see what happens when they get toand if they choose to swap out either Frog or Robo at that point. My final team is usually Crono andMagusalong with either Frog or Marle. Robo is so slow, I never am able to use him in any capacity once I don't have to.Magus
This thread will be the death of me regarding feeding the tin can speed tabs.I actually just finished the DS version with Crono-Marle-Robo. Stealing speed tabs makes everything easier and Marle-Robo have that great heal all Double Tech.
This is the only area of the game that is keenly locked on using a team. In this case team 1000AD. No other area is it a big deal unless you for some reason don't have any lightning for the future, for dinos, etc... But even that is manageable.Honestly any character build works in this game, but for specific areas like THE ONE THEY'RE AT RIGHT NOW I purposely swapped in Lucca for fire. I also hoarded all the tabs as a kid until the end side quests and then split them between Crono/Magus. With Magus in the party you really have no issue with elemental stuff. Actually I can't even imagine anyone not playing the game with Crono+Magus+Healer..it's..just not...fathomable..
Absolutely. Augments are probably the best thing that ever happened to that game, and definitely made the system far more enjoyable than it originally was. Though I played it without a FAQ, so I guess people who used external references probably found it easier. I just really dislike the look of that game, but the gameplay is pretty solid. What about FFIVDS? I'd say together they make the ATB trinity.
Ah, don't worry about the speed tabs argument, but you know that I totally agree with you. By the time he finishes playing catch up, the other guys are even more efficient. I just like using vanilla Robo to make the game harder. Excluding Magus from a team also makes the game feel more balanced since both he and Ayla are powerhouses in their respective strengths (magic and physical respectively). Crono has a lot of speed (which is why I wonder Ryan and Patrick have the speed belt on him rather than Robo). This thread will be the death of me regarding feeding the tin can speed tabs.

Not using Magus is easy because he is friggin broken.
lol Yea, one day I should learn to let it go. But apparently that day isn't today.Ah, don't worry about the speed tabs argument, but you know that I totally agree with you. By the time he finishes playing catch up, the other guys are even more efficient.
Haha. I stopped watching roughly 15 episodes ago. It's kind of amazing, I mean, reading this thread and seeing people react to their play style exactly the same as a few weeks ago. Have they actually learnt anything?

That'sThis doesn't really have to do with the endurance run but does anyone else think the sealed chests look like a face with a mustache

perhaps a beaver
I think the main problem with this endurance run is that it's been pre-recorded too much. No point in leaving any useful comments or tips because they probably have finished the game already.
There were a few episodes in the past endurance runs where you could tell they recorded a couple of episodes together but this one and Ryan not reading anything is terrible.
