Gigantic announced for Windows 10 and Xbox One

This actually looks very promising. I still don't really know what a moba is though.
Games like Dota 2 or League of Legends. They originated from a custom map in Starcraft which was later adapted to the original Defense of the Ancients custom map in Warcraft III. The name MOBA was made up by League of Legends' developer to have a name for the genre other than Dota-like or something similar. Gigantic is actually really nonstandard as far as this type of game goes and from the looks of it seems to have more in common with the Onslaught mode from Unreal Tournament.

Very nice art style.

So "friendly" looking. Awesome.

I hope they can add some kind of competetive pvp rating to the XBO version, too. Should be very interesting then.

This game looks amazing, can't wait to try it out.

BTW is this coming to PS4 as well or is it mainly a One/PC game?

Did that dragon have an altered Godzilla roar? I cant tell if its an altered one from the 2014 movie, but that is definitely a Godzilla roar.

More cross platform gaming, I wonder what other genres could benefit from this? 3rd person would work, Platforming and Fighting games too. The only genre that would be unfair would probably be shooters.

Are we really going to start calling games for PC, "Windows 10" games because Microsoft wants to re-brand them?

I think it's to specify they'll have certain features. So in other words, all "Windows 10" games will probably be cross buy, have cross play, and will likely support DX12. Those first two features probably won't be the case for any Steam versions (assuming the game is not exclusive to the Windows store). Plus they might be Win10 exclusive EDIT: They just confirmed on the stream, the final release will be Win10 exclusive.

MS isn't looking to rebrand ONLY PCs. MS thinks they are capable of making their software scalable such that you can easily port it to any device that has Windows 10.

I'm sure the reality will be vastly different because phones as powerful as they are are just too limited compared to a laptop and the same problems exist for embedded computers; but the intent is plain to see.

Very nice art style.

We need some sort of Looney Tunes game based on this art style, this game looks great.

So I got a friend who got into the alpha, and she described it as a ton of fun - basically like a MOBA only you play it in 3rd person and there's a giant mob on each side.

HA! Thanks! Looney Tunes! This was the thing the style reminded me of :D I was sitting here for about 20 mins now and couldn't really refer to what my brain was remembering here.

Well..that killed most of my excitement for this game, untill I've found out that crossplay is opt-in.

The curse of Torchlight continues. That curse being, you can have a generic and textureless world and characters that saves dev cost and still may have successful sales.

Have you been watching the Twitch streams etc of how they worked through the art style options and character/environment re-designs?

Man, whenever I scroll past that thread title I can't help but think of

The game has my attention though, the combat looks interesting and I'm really digging that art style.

The art reminds me of Wind Waker HD.

I really got WW vibes when I saw this, everything down to the weapon bears a striking resemblance to moblins.

I think the art style works good from certain angles. Overhead views in particular. I know it falls apart when you can get up close to something though, such as the rock on the right when using lower resolution textures. Which is one of the great points of using this style from a production standpoint.

Now I've helped you out maybe you could share some information regarding a certain game someone may be working on...

I enjoy watching matches play out, so that's a good sign for e-sports I guess!

Interesting to see how this develops.

I attended the party last night at PAX. The team is genuine, pumped about their game, and love what they do. Community is also KEY to them. They had community coaches there all week who are community members from the alpha who were on hand to socialize and answer any questions.

The game is super competitive and super fun also.

Seriously can't wait

I do like how they do the Community Coach stuff. They seem to be doing the Community interaction thing really well. Hopefully the push for Win 10 and Xbox One will pay off for them in terms of popularity and getting a good community onboard.
