Giri/Haji (Duty/Shame) - Outstanding Crime Drama Mini-Series on Netflix

When it comes to culture, I love all things British, and I love all things Japanese. I'm probably single-handedly responsible for some Netflix employee seeing a massive spike in searches for "British" and "Japanese" over the course of the last several years.

I suspect then that same employee went and told someone in Netflix management that there is a veritable outcry for more British and Japanese content. And that guy probably thought to himself, "Self, we must provide for the people. But what shall we create? British or Japanese?" And himself most undeniably replied, "Both, Senpai."

Thusly, the most perfect combination of British and Japanese drama has been delivered, and genuinely surprised the total hell out of me with it's complete and utter QUALITY. I mean it. Cast, acting, story, dialogue, pacing, music, production, artistry... This has all of it, in copious supply. I rarely re-watch tv series, but I know this will be an exception. It's instantly earned a permanent spot in my all-time favorite anythings.

If you have Netflix, are a Britophile or Shinnichika, or just appreciate a really, *really* well-done miniseries, I present to you: "Giri/Haji (Duty/Shame)".

You're welcome.

That's a weird way to sell a show, but sure why not

I just finished this.

10/10

Perfect combination of drama and humor, with immensely charismatic and entertaining characters, great dialogue, brutal action and kind of a...poetic atmosphere. Absolutely loved it. And its soundtrack.

I finished last episode 30 minutes ago and I am already looking forward to a rewatch it is so good.
