Girlfriend got stuck in aiport. I gifted a book to her Kindle. Chivalry in 2015, man.

Llama or Tasker for Android is pretty fucking nuts if you get into the scripts you can program into it. I use it for simple shit like

-Whenever I plug something into the headphone jack, Podcast Addict loads up

But people really go nuts and you can have it do shit that just blows my brain like:

-Use GPS to auto-send a text to a certain person (say, your wife) when you're a predetermined distance from home. "Be there in 10". Phone doesn't even leave your pocket.
-Opens a grocery list you have stored in Notes when you walk into the grocery store.
-Wifi on when at home and work, off everywhere else;
-3G off when Wifi on and vice-versa;
-Set noisy contacts, even if the phone is in vibration, a small beep is played for them
-Lower multimedia/notifications volume with headphones on (sound too loud when at full volume);
-Auto rotation on for certain apps (gallery, browser, etc), off for everything else;
-Time based rules (silent at night, no data at night, no bluetooth at weekends, etc)
-Connect bluetooth between 8:30-10:30 and 16:30-17:30 (commutes)
-Disable all data when battery lower than 5% (wifi, bluetooth, gps, 3g, etc)
-Someone tries to unock your phone with the wrong password 3x, a picture is taken with the front camera and emailed directly to you, with GPS coordinates.

Those are just some from reddit posters, the list goes on and on.

Technology! In your pocket!

I marvel at how crazy technology is all the time. I'm walking to my car yesterday and it dawns on me I'd like to listen to the new Muse single on my sound system in the car. I click to open iTunes, load the song in about 20 seconds using touch sensor to avoid my password. When I get to my car, the song is done loading, and when I turn the car on, it automatically bluetooth syncs and I literally command the car to start playing it using the voice commands in my car. Shit is crazy.

Also, all of these "shill" comments are incredibly lame attempts to flame the OP. Technology is amazing, guys.

My car still only has a cassette player (but I don't own any tapes anymore), the radio works but not all speakers in the car work so I only get to hear the left or right audio channel (can't remember which) of a stereo mix... Oh and the volume knob is fucked and requires a crazy amount of patience and luck to get it to work (if it does at all).

Your situation sounds like Star Trek to me.

Eh... I rarely interact with airport staff. Signs do most of the job for me.

Edit: And in Atlanta's case, staff were very helpful when I did have a couple of questions. And they had staff stationed in certain areas like Marta and SkyTrain available for questions.

Please, tell me more about the Atlanta airport and the great services it provides to both passengers and airline personnel, fellow forum dweller!

Kinda crazy. I know it's not some mind-blowing process - but just the concept of what I did would have been completely abstract just ten years ago.

Girlfriend is stuck in the Atlanta airport (hate that place), and I know she's been there many times before - so I can assume her Kindle will automatically connect to the WiFi she's set up in the past. She calls, lets me know her plane got delayed - which stinks cause she's bored. As she's talking to me on the phone, I have my laptop open. I take a look at what series she's been reading, and I 1-click order the next book in the series. 60 seconds later, I tell her I bought her a book and hopefully it gives her something to do. She exclaims "yay!" and we both think of how the whole process is pretty neat.

Anyway... what are other weird ways technology has invaded your life but we don't realize it. Moments you stopped and thought "well, huh."

I use mobile ID from my android phone to log into my internet bank and it takes about 30 seconds tops and then I'm online and can do so many banking tasks. A couple of years ago the same process would have taken ages. Feels so good!
