Glee Season 3 [OT] thread of pure love and acceptance

I actually liked the episode. It almost feels like they are pretending that Season 2 doesn't exist. If you had told me that this episode (other than the fact that they are seniors) started after the first season I would believe you. But after being SUPER disappointed by the finale last season I think I am back on board for now.

I thought it was a pretty decent ep.
Pretty good songs throughout (we did Anything Goes @ my High School so that brought back memories and I loved the song from Hairspray at the end!) and Lea was looking fine as ever! :D
Even the Glee Project girl's cameo was surprisingly decent.

Maybe it was explained and I missed it, but why isn't Sam back?
Did he just "transfer" like that forgotten football guy from Season 1? haha

Oh boy, I see the character personality pendulum is already in full swing. 90's "rebel" Quinn? Oh, Glee.

*gives it two episodes tops before Quinn is back to normal*

Gameboy415: Sam's dad got a job in another city/state so he moved. Yes, giant cop out. I actually thought Sam wasn't that bad, sucks they dropped him like they did Matt.

Ah, thanks.

Yeah it's too bad they ditched him, he was a pretty decent character/singer.

I'm fine with them sweeping stuff under the rug to get things set up for the season, hopefully they can handle the continuity going forward.

Here's the impression I'm getting from this season premiere:

Glee's become a parody of itself when it first came out.

Watching the premiere, if I wasn't cringing, I was bored.

The only thread of value in the show now is the big Kurt and Rachel dream. This storyline had the only remotely interesting scene in this episode.

Rachel is annoying as ever, but other than that it was a quite good episode. I wonder if we'll see more of that terribly singing girl.

From what I understand Chord Overstreet didn't want to return and wanted to focus on his career. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen, but that's the real world explanation.

Yeah, that was the one storyline I found entertaining, because we hadn't seen it four hundred times already.

Sue's out to crush the glee club? The glee kids are unpopular and getting slushied? Yawn.

It was an alright premiere.

It's difficult to judge, because, while the characters were once again different from where they were last season: Santana flip flopping for the millionth time between cheerios and glee club, Quinn bizarrely shunning her friends, etc. who knows how long any of that will last? With the new writers, one would hope for some continuity, but the show has an abysmal track record in that area, so who knows who it will go? I hope it sticks.

I like the theme of Finn (and possibly others) not knowing what to do after high school. I hope they fully explore that this season, but I expect them to get sidetracked with tater tots or something equally irrelevant. Kurt and Rachel's struggle to leave their hometown for brighter things is well done, and I hope they continue with that as well.

Schue and Emma are terrible, and completely suck the life out of every scene.

Sue is an embarrassing, unfunny cartoon at this point, and nothing she does means anything.

Song selection was hit or miss. I liked Blaine's number and the competitive high school musical bunch, as well as the final performance, but the rest were flat.

Absolutely agree about Schue, Emma and Sue. They turn me off on this show. Might be a struggle to keep watching if they can't give these guys some real depth.

Hopefully, they will follow through with Finn's directionless life. Since Season 1, he had no purpose other than to be in the middle of the love triangle.

I like the idea of Sue sacrificing the Glee club for her political gains. However, it's absolutely disappointing that the best the writers could do with the materials is to just spew statistics rather than meaningful character conflicts or development.

Absolutely awful premiere. First of all, I was (really rethinking this) a huge fan of the series, loved season 1, even 2 (last episodes were meh however), but I don"t know if it's because of the waiting or what, but I was horrified. Didnt even finish the episode, stopped at 30 min or so.

Simply unbearable, Kurt who was my favorite character in Season 1 just annoys me, I want to punch him in the face, everything that made him likeable turns to the opposite now, he's just too much. Script is lazy, I feel like I'm watching the same thing over and over again: Sue trying to destroy the club ONCE AGAIN.

Rachel annoys me now too, the songs performed sucked hard (I thought), Blaine is incredibly irritating for me too.

I'm starting to think I'm not even gonna watch the rest of the season, WTF happened there?!

The post talking about Glee becoming a parody of itself is exactly how I feel.

It was alright. The songs were very good. Just.. three seasons in and STILL the school hates them, Sue is after then again, this time for a really stupid reason (They honestly don't know what to do with her character), and the characters keep flip flopping between relationships.

I enjoyed it. But.... it needs work.*

*Please write Kurt off asap. He is so fucking annoying.

I liked the episode, but I thought it got boring at parts. I think the show needs more Beiste!!!!! I loved her short little part in this episode. Hopefully she gets more screen time this season.

Okay, finally saw the episode. It was probably better than almost the entirety of Season 2 and was closer to Season 1 levels. All the songs were great. No ballads, no solo's (well, Blaine but that's his thing), had some funny stuff, got rid of the overweight girl who was good but didn't make any sense being in the glee club, Rachel and Kurt acting as friends, and an overall normal story.

Santana's ban from glee was stupid and Quinn needs to get back into the club. Hopefully they're back in soon. The more Santana the better. And the stupidest thing was not bringing Sam back. Stupid act on the producers to not give him a full credit.

I have a feeling she might be pulling a double-agent sort of thing. Just a few scenes prior, she was pleading Quinn to come back to Glee and Cheerios so they could all be together and win again. While this show oscillates wildly with its characters, I have a feeling they'll do right by Santana as one of the more developed and focused characters in the show.

At least that's what I'm hoping

Ratings drop should surpise no one. The show will never be as popular again, and the ratings will likely decrease all season.

What? So Kurt made him quit his nice private school so that the two gets to be together for a year before Kurt leave him.

Yeah, both Kurt's and Blaine's scenes in the season premiere make vastly less sense if they're not graduating the same year.

Glee is Glee, and I can deal with a clumsy retcon or continuity error, but it's much more aggravating when they threaten to get in the way of characterization and long-term storylines.

Ratings drop isn't surprising. The middle of season two was awful, and though it picked up at the end, by then the story and characters had broken down significantly.

At this point, I watch for the songs. You can only watch the characters flip flop back and forth so many times.

Mr. Schu's speech to Quinn was kinda hot. LMAO.

I hate Shelby as a character. And the idea of a second Glee Club is dumb.

Quinn back to being Quinn by the end of the episode: 200% expected.
Quinn wanting full custody: not expected.

lolz

Last weeks was great but this one was just all over the place. Puck's scene with Beth was well done but that was about it. I hate solo songs and ended up fast forwarding through the songs tonight. Quinn's twist is pretty dumb. Don't think I like where the season (well, at least the next few episodes as Glee can change directions pretty quickly) is going. I want less drama, more fun. And fun group songs like last week.

This was a much better episode than last week. There was actual continuity, not just with last episode, but also with events from the first season that have long been forgotten.

Reintroducing Rachel's mom and Quinn's baby was a smart move that should, providing the new writers aren't shit, provide interesting, and lasting, repercussions for many of the characters. (but it's Glee, so...)

Quinn dropping her faux punk thing was predicted by everyone, so that's no surprise. However, at the end of the episode, it seemed it might be a cosmetic change only. She was still acting "punky", and she's secretly trying to steal her child away from Rachel's mom. And interesting arc for sure.

Puck wanting to have a relationship with his daughter was nice, but a little uncharacteristic. He's done so many stupid, unrealistic things, that it's hard to take anything he does seriously.

Schue and Emma were far less prominent, and thus, far less annoying. His scene with Quinn was nice and non douchey, which is the first time in a long time that he showed that side of himself.

Sue is still utter shit. At this point, I think she's irredeemable. What an awful character.

Quinn staying with Mercedes in the first season was nice, but they never mentioned it again. They bonded, and seemed to be good friends in-the-making, but the show dropped that after, like, 1 episode. It's nice to at least get a reference to that, even if it probably won't lead to anything substantial.

Kurt mentioning that the metal pipes on stage during his performance were courtesy of his dad/the mechanic shop was a nice touch. Is this the end of inexplicably having expensive coordinating outfits for everyone? The end of overly elaborate stages and effects? Probably not, but it's promising that the writers thought to include that line. The dance training thing was also a nice touch.

It's nice that Finn is still seriously considering his options after high school.

Also, the musical numbers actually made sense within the context of the show; as auditions for a school musical.
