God Eater 2: Rage Burst - Announcement Trailer | PS4, Vita, PC

how is the combat feeling in this kind of games?? smooth or with a lot of delay?

It's fair to compare it to something like Kingdom Hearts. There are definitely attacks with long animations, but for the most part, it's really snappy and immediate.

Since this is on pc, can pc users play with vita/ps4 owners? I'd assume so since sony is fine with that cross-play idea, but i didnt see anything to indicate it.

I'm glad they dropped that Gods Eater moniker for the west.
That was just awkward

Bamco D3 was making a tempest in a teacup with that move. The best part is that it only affected the logo and the subtitles, since the dialogue never even once referred to the title as a plural.

God Eater was the...PSP MH style game right?

Yes. It's a PSO clone. Not a Monter Hunter clone.

Unlikely.

So what kind game is this? I've never heard of God Eater until like a couple a weeks ago and have no clue what genre it is. This trailer didn't give me much to go by. I assume its a JRPG. Game does look pretty neat though from what I saw.

A faster paced monster hunter. If you ever saw freedom wars for psv .. think something sorta like that.

We just answered a question that mentions this somewhat haha... It's a hunting action game, a la Monster Hunter, with a better story(for whatever that's worth to you) and faster pace. Decent AI companions, a jump button! A bullet customization system which is pretty neat, etc etc.

Yeah, it's Bamco's take on hunting action. It differs big time in the gameplay department, as it's a lot more on the acrobatic side and you can switch from melee to ranged at any time (complete with a ridiculously complex ammo crafting system), but you're still teaming up to fight big monsters and making sure you're breaking parts in order for a chance at crafting materials to make your next great weapon.

nice to see them finally bring it out but good lord at the fuckup of not having announced it while the anime was airing

Played both in the same year, and it was really tiring. GE2RB is good but feels more like another expanded version than a true sequel to GEB. Then, there was the totally pointless GER which copy-pastes most of the mechanics from GE2RB, and still has less content.

So if you want to play one, play GE2RB (story execution is crap in both games anyway, the anime is doing it much better).

The dream is real! I'm really surprised that we are getting the Vita version. I wonder if it will be digital only. I will buy physical in a heartbeat.

Depending on how good the cross-play is I might get the PS4 version as well.

New God Eater is one of the things that originally sold me on a Vita. Now if only Lords of Apocalypse could come West...

I assume that like MH, these games are better when played multi-player than in single-player mode, right? And if so, the PS4 version might be the one to get for me since I have more PSN friends than Steam friends.

Or does it even really matter?

Honestly, the best thing about God Eater in my book is that the AI for NPC party members is uncommonly excellent, which makes the solo game very doable for those who don't have the time otherwise.

I'm trying to do some research about the release chronology of the series but i'm a bit confused.

Could anyone tell me which game is the 1st,2nd, and which ones are expansions and updated versions? If i wanted to play all them in order of release which ones should i play? Thanks.

Nice. I've always wanted the God eaters.

How do they compare to Freedom Wars. Whilst I was semi enjoying freedom wars, I got bored about half way throufg because the battles jusr felt tedious and some of the overworld things felt unnecessary.

Huge monster Hunter fan here btw.

God Eater
God Eater Burst (enhanced ver of ^)
God Eater Resurrection (remake of ^)

God Eater 2
God Eater 2 Rage Burst (enhanced version of ^)

Basically we're getting the most up-to-date versions of the original and the sequel.

GE - GE:Burst (update) - GE:Ressurrection (remake of burst) → GE2 - GE2:Rage Burst (update)

- God Eater (PSP - JP only)
- God Eater Burst (PSP - JP/US/EU - Expansion)
- God Eater 2 (VITA/PSP - JP only)
- God Eater 2 Rage Burst (VITA/ PS4/PC - JP/US/EU - Expansion)
- God Eater Ressurrection (VITA/PS4/PC - JP/US/EU - Remaster/Expansion)

Freedom Wars and God Eater both have their own pros and cons. But I'd say you'd probably like God Eater more than you liked Freedom Wars from that.

If you don't mind playing in Japanese, you can actually grab the demos and try them out on PS4.

he said release order, so I fixed it for ya.

Thanks.
Funny that, now that I look at that list, I've bought every single one of these imports...
and i have full intention on double dipping.
The God Eater series really rivals PSO/2 personally for the hunting action crown. It's that good, in my eyes.

Man it's so awesome to see everyone getting stoked for this game. I've signed up to write the OT. I hope to see you all there! I already have some ideas in mind, it would be awesome if we could organize community hunts, and specially if the game had cross-play across the 3 platforms.

Yay! Very happy to have this finally announced! Both too! Hopefully this means a double pack, or as some have suggested, possibly a Buy 1 get 1 free offer?
It is just a shame it's really taken this long to get this announcement and they've kept very quiet about it.

Still year of dreams confirmed!

While MH and Toukiden has separate missions for story/online, GE has only story missions so it can be annoying to progress online (every player has to watch the host's cutscenes if he doesn't skip them). I played the game alone.

I think they're crap. All they're doing is dodging, they otherwise take 3 minutes to kill a single ogretail. Toukiden Kiwami AI is the best imo.

I'm also interested whether they'll allow Vita-PS4 cross-play like they did in Japan (I think they will). Now if you add PC into this then number of matching pattern will increase exponentially.

Pervy Photo mode. :P

Haha, substantial indeed.

Well for me, the solo play is the appeal of the genre (including Monster Hunter), but it all depends on your taste.

So how similar are these to MH? What are the big differences?

God Eater is much faster faster. Weapons have two modes, close-range and long-range, you can change them at will. You can jump. You have in-game companions that are super competent, so you never really have to play alone. The games have a campaign/story.
It's on Sony consoles. LOL.
