Goodbye Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Mad props to you, Chop. I did about 200, wrapped up when I finally grew the blue roses myself 😊

Hey, did you all take flowers further than I did?

(This was where my journey ended: https://www.zigg.com/2014/everything-about-flowers-animal-crossing.html)
Not really mate. Between you, me and Philia, we worked it all out. The grandparent theory works consistently throughout every breed, so once you get to grips with the colours and the fact that you need to be considering two generations every time, it works perfectly. I found myself easily breeding the exact colours I wanted, when I wanted them. Good work.

My dog's name is Buckey, so I approve of your excellent choice in town names! I haven't logged in for a long long time, but I'm interested in seeing your town you put so much time and love into, so I'll fire it up later and stop over.
Funnily enough, Buckland is named after my dog, Buckley

By contrast, I always feel bad for people who seem to need to buy 2 games a month to have as much fun as someone who can buy one 40 dollar game (or even a free game) every 6 months.

I don't like animal crossing, personally, but I think it's great that some people can be so economically efficient and not blow all their discretionary income just to have fun.
I did in fact receive it for free, thanks to a promotion here in europe! I always would have purchased it anyway, but I couldn't resist a free download.

I sometimes miss my own town, but not quite enough to manipulate the date and go back in. But I just can't bring myself to sell it!

I had fun playing with you and the rest of the community, Chopper. I still wouldn't have enough posts for a full member if not for ACGAF.

I never did fully solve your puzzle.

Chopper!

We will see you Fantasy Life soon! *snicker*

I'm going to continue to acquire the rest of the bug and fish gold badges and after that I may finally retire the game.

Nice post buddy. Won't be the same without you around, but I hope you'll at least pop into the thread from time to time, assuming it doesn't dredge up sad memories :P the community is definitely why I continue to play everyday. There are few things as satisfying as helping others or being helped, and just wanted to say I definitely appreciated your help in filling out my catalog, or just hanging out and chatting from time to time. Wish you and your partner the best with Chopper Jr. Happy to see that you've got your priorities straight, and if you ever need to chat, you've always got a friend here.

I stopped playing the game for a few days, then I started procrastinating getting back into because I didn't want to deal with what might have changed from my absences, lol.
I'm glad you got such a good experience though, OP.

Amazing game. One of my favorites. I'm sitting at about 270 hours and only really get on when I get in the mood to start playing it often again.

Any time I start back again, ACGAF is always so helpful!

Just wait until they make a "Pokémon Crossing" with Pokémon characters as townspeople alongside the AC villagers, and featuring quests you can take up outside your village to recruit ("catch") more villagers, as well as find more furniture, bells, etc.

Excellent post, dude. :) Thanks for all you've contributed to as well and letting my silliness be a part of it. :P

We'd love to see you back for holidays if Chopper Jr. allows you. ^_^

Oh yeah... and there's Fantasy Life... *chuckles*

Don't think I've ever put more than 200 hours into a game, and there's very few I'll put 100+ into it. Without sounding like a jerk, while I'm glad OP had fun, it just seems ridiculous to put that many hours into a single game...

To be fair you probably have. 3DS's Activity Log let's the shame be fully realized though. Plus Animal Crossing more than most games definitely allows for that amount of content.

I couldn't put the game down for abouth a month, then a month after that i was just playing every now and then until i felt that it was pointless and started to think what would happen if you could actually use all the items you collect, then i stoped playing it.

I'd be dead. I'd play it constantly. I'd want all my favorites in my town both AC villager and pokemon.

Not only that it would probably sell like gangbusters.

Great OP. I think I ended up at around 160 hours? What finally got me to stop was accepting that I inevitably would end up stopping one day, and my village would go into disrepair...the villagers I like would move out, houses would break up my paths etc. I had fun maintaining my town for a long time, but the second it became about maintaining the status quo, preventing people from leaving, and I was running out of ways to improve my town...I realized it was time to put the game down.

I'll be back around for the hopefully eventual Wii U version though. Great series of games.

Thanks for sharing OP. Seriously.

It was my first AC game, and I played for a couple days but the time system in the game was completely at odds with my real life schedule. I stopped playing, and my community has probably gone to shit, but you inspired me to pick it up again.

Just picked up the Animal Crossing LE 3DS (better late than never). I think I haven't played AC devotedly since the Gamecube days, so looking forward to see what has changed. I kinda tried the DS one years ago, but I thought that one was more like a step down than an improvement. Really good to read people putting hundreds of hours into this game.

Great post, Chopper! It was fun playing with you and you'll always be a part of ACGAF whether you're still playing or not.

I still remember my Hype thread that got locked down by a mod because creepy people insisted on being creepy...

Man, that thread was amazing. I wasn't even planning on getting the game because I knew I'd be addicted to it but that thread got me so hyped up that I couldn't resist. I've been playing it daily since launch so I guess I was right. :P

Awesome! Glad to hear I retired at the top of my game 😉

This thread is kinda making me want to peer back into the community again, but truth be told, I had a heck of a time making time to visit people last time 'round 😔

That was such a nice read. Thank you. I intend to pick up Animal Crossing one of these days.

Everyone should find that one special game like this person has. For me it would either be the original KOTOR or Persona 4.

After 1200 hours of gameplay my file got corrupted and I haven't play in 6 months.
I get legitimately nostalgic and even sad when I think about how much I loved my town.

You have somehow inspired me to start over.

I've learned nothing.

I lost a lot of interest when Marshal left. I have been too busy to checl y town for 2 months. Probably lost my other favorite villagers too lol

Amazing op, Chopper. Just convinced me to finally try out Animal Crossing

An OP so heartfelt, I just bought the damn game.

Awesome.

Glad to hear a similar story to my own with Animal Crossing. I played it from the night it came out to about my one year anniversary with it. I carefully designed the layout of my town like a city planner, almost got all the badges, almost finished my catalog, upgraded my town to the highest degree, blah blah blah. When I decided I no longer would play it felt like a sigh of relief but one of accomplishment. I didn't feel like I left anything hanging on the table, and with the ordinance to not let flowers die whenever I feel like going back I no the town won't be shambles.

I also slowed down on New Leaf but I still check it every couple of days to see how is it going. I'm nowhere near to have the town I wanted but it's too time-consuming to achieve it.

Congrats OP, will check your dream address when I go back home from work.

I'm literally scared of this. They really REALLY should provide a way for backup. I know, there's issues with online play. I don't mind if you can only use the "restore" function once each six months, but I want a backup function.

Besides, there's already dupers...

3DS has save backups now.

Yeah, I pretty much stopped playing too. I just make sure no one moves and do one or two task every four or five days now. I saw you a bunch in the ACNF thread, even though I didn't join in as much here as I would like it was nice seeing you around.

Good job!

I only lasted for about 2 months. After I stopped playing for a bit because of various reasons, I just couldn't get back into it because the game was basically saying "fuck you for not playing everyday" every time I took a break. I would start a new game but I don't feel like doing all that shit over again, and unlocking all the stores again. So there goes 40 bucks. It's one of the only reasons I've held out on getting Tomodachi Life.
That's odd. I stopped playing for literally six months and all that happened to me was one villager moved out and I have messy hair. The first thing that happened was I got some awesome reward for pulling all my weeds. The rest is just like I never left.
