Rear camera bokeh is also quite bad.

Just check the top and other corners, the Pixel 2 image is just very cheap.

The XL looks light years better than the regular. On the other hand it's huge and basically the size of an iPhone+. Ugh.

It definitely is cool but unless I missed sth, both users need to have their own pair of buds. And let's face it, that makes it quite useless in the few situations most people would even use it.
oh i thought the speaker was picking up what she was saying and translating back to u

Are there any comparisons between the XL 2 and the LG V30 yet? I have an XL preordered, but I'm still planning on checking out the V30. This is going to be my first Android phone after years of iPhone, so I'm tempted by the stock Android, but I love the look of the V30.

Shame it's not on AT&T. I'm currently on the trade in your phone every 12 months NEXT program, and I'd switch to this, but the way phones change every year, I'm not about to pay full price for a phone when I'm switching them out every year.

I'm also a photographer and I think it looks decent. The worst thing about these fake out of focus effects is the guy is perfectly in focus everywhere and the entire background is the same out of focus. If you shoot someone like that with a SLR camera with low depth of field, part of guy's head will start to go out of focus as you go further back.... not the all or nothing seen here.

I'm actually about to leave to shoot an event tonight and the Google Clip literally sounds like something to put event photographers out of business... clip it to your shirt and it automatically takes photos of interesting moments without you doing anything.
Are you looking at the edges? It’s terrible. If that’s decent to you we have different standards.

And yes, I agree about the depth. That’s what I mentioned as well for being artificial.

I'd prefer a two cam setup like LG's. I find the wide angle lens far more useful than fake bokeh and zooming, though having both a wide angle lens and optical zoom would be nice.

When I had Verizon all of these Google phones where on other carriers. Now that I'm on T-Mobile, Verizon has the exclusive. Just my luck.

haha yea dude. tho buying an unlocked phone has its merits too. you will always have carrier freedom and travelbility.

I don't get why the Pixel 2 can't have the same bezels as the XL. The 2 has bigger bezels than my Nexus 5X for god's sake, which was already a downgrade from the Nexus 5. Looks like I'll have to wait another year.

as a person, who loves to takes photos with my smartphone, this looks really really ugly.

For a front facing camera i think it looks pretty good (minus the bokeh which is more like bokmeh) I've yet to see a really great front facing camera photo from anyone.

I don't think anyone would buy the 2XL if the 2 had the same type of design. I certainly wouldn't have.

Oh for Aussies like me wondering why we can't preorder apparently Australian pre-orders open on the 20th* (because Australia) according to C-net.

* Why yes this is the day after they start normal sales in the US thanks for noticing.

show me. iphone, huawei phone, etc all have artifacts
I'm guessing you missed the part where I said bokeh and not artifact? The software bokeh is cheap, the OnePlus 5 implementation I saw was better but still nowhere close to what is actually achievable with the use of two cameras.

Still artifacts in the iP8 shot :/

Yeah, I don't really care for the bokeh effects. The last time I used it was like Nexus 5 and RX100 M1.

I hope this phone will last, it's the first phone since the 3GS that I want to keep for 2 years. 3 years of OS updates is a good start with this!

EDIT: "GOOGLE PIXEL 2. HIER VORBESTELLEN AM 05.10.2017" damn you Telekom. Preorder starts tomorrow. At least I can stop pressing F5. I hope they'll also have the Google Home Mini deal.

The thing is, you don't really need a bokeh on the front facing camera (yes, maybe selfies) but this looks really bad (fake muddy bokeh). Should have left it out this time and optimise it for future release.

Pixel 2
Jesus. Fuck software and just add the second camera.

omg.

Here is what I think:

+ Google Lens
+ Pixel Buds
+ Video stabilization

- Price
- Price
- Price
- Only one camera
- Wireless charging

Apparently the Pixel 2 uses both nano SIM and eSIM now. Project Fi users will activate using the embedded eSIM instead of a nano SIM like before.

Looks like my next phone will probably be an S8.

Yeah, I was originally gonna wait for the Pixel 2 but as more and more rumors started coming out, I ended up grabbing an S8 and haven't regretted it yet. This news just makes me glad I didn't wait longer.

I ordered the pixel 2 XL, but I guess I can cancel my order if I change my mind. I currently have the nexus 6p and it has been the best phone I have ever used and now google promises the pixel 2XL is among the best smartphones you can ever have and I am just such a google fanboy that I caved and gave them my money.

It's $897 after taxes for the 64 gb model.

Did I fuck up??
