Working on Last.FM scrobbling integration

Awhee I got the update too (and the play store update as well, finally!).

I like it. They fixed the issue where stuff removed from active playlists from the website wouldn't get updated on the phone, which was my only gripe with the old app. Animations do skip a frame or two on my Nexus 5 though, unfortunately.

come a really long way from early testing. awesome work.

Thanks!! Appreciate :D

Updated, no real opinion yet.
Messing around with the preset quick picks.
That seems cool, did LATEST > TODAY'S RAP and got hit with Gibbs Pinata lol.
Well okay, close enough to today... will mess around more.

Seems they don't have any function that checks if you're adding a song that's already on a playlist. I wish they added either a pop-up warning or a filter feature that checks for dupes.

On the Spotify $5 a month plan and really miss All Access. So much better, but I do not want to pay the $5 extra a month to have it.

Wish I jumped on it when they had the $8 a month thing going on.

I'm still waiting for the Listen Now page to have infinite scrolling =( New Releases too. Just keep on loading those recommendations and new releases!

I currently have both at the moment and I hate that neither is well rounded enough to be the perfect choice. Google has that great integration of uploaded songs and streaming music and Spotify has much better social, playlist and follower features. I can't see Google catching up to Spotify in that respect so Spotify needs to let people add their own music (rather than the horrible local songs sync people suggest as a workaround).

Is there any way to edit some of google's listing or at least give them a heads up.
I have some artists who I search that come up that somehow get tagged with a completely different artist or album. It's annoying. I've found some duplicate albums too somehow.

New update is pretty awesome. Maybe not quite as great for curated lists yet as Spotify but it's a great step and what I've really been wanting Play Music to add. So glad I jumped in when this was $7.99.

Switched to All access a month ago. Not liking it much. Spotify has way better curated playlists.
Also 5$ for Spotify seems better deal.

I've no idea. When I get matching errors I usually do it all manually. I redid my entire collection with custom artwork and labels and haven't run into it recently. However, I do notice that when I have a playlist with a mix of different artists, I;ll get really strange artist banners popping up that sometimes aren't even in the same genre (this happens with my video game playlists all the time).

Thanks guys. The update is interesting but I don't like how it no longer tells you what you recently added vs what you recently played.

I really like this new update. I'm not a big 'music head' so very often I have trouble finding stuff to listen to. I've listened to a hip hop playlist I put together about a year ago somewhere around 100 times. These new features are going to help me find so much new music. Thumbs up.

They really need to do a better job of showing explicit vs non explicit version when you hit up the albums on mobile. The desktop version has a red E symbol on the explicit. A ton of the albums on mobile just look like duplicate albums.

Yea, it would be nice if there was a filter to only show one type.

Random question, what do you guys think of the Recommendations?

I've been using the service since it's inception, so maybe it works particularly good for me because it knows me in and out, but so far - great. If you mean specifically the new songza specific recommendations, those are great for me so far too - been discovering a lot of new music over the last few days.

Don't think I've been missing it, but... Is there an option to listen to just a certain genre from your Thumbs Up, or is that only available for your library?

Seems like an oversight on my behalf or Google's.

zeppu, any plans to add volume control to the chrome extension?

Yes! Just for you I've implemented it and rolled it out a few minutes ago <3
Extension updates usually roll out in about an hour.

It's been there since day 1 but I just realised it had been broken by a Chrome update so I fixed it. Scroll over the bubble to increase/decrease volume.

Webcache of the page works. I just wish they'd add the ability to scrobble to last.fm and the ability to finetune the radio, similar to how Pandora allows you to constantly add different artists/songs to the stations to give them a more diverse selection.

Edit:
Damn you, amrod

Download the Last.fm app and it scrobbles it for you.

I feel both mocked and contented.

There's no indicator though to see the volume level, however. (Awesome work btw)

Now with 100% more features non-broken because of kehs

Maybe someday. I really have no time to work on this right now unfortunately. GAF is being too interesting to finish my actual work, let alone sideprojects.

Just downloaded this extension, and I'm really psyched to try it out. Not having keyboard shortcuts for GMusic in Chrome is one of its big failings. Clicking back into the tab every time you want to pause or skip a song just seems so archaic, and as much as I hate to say it, it causes me to listen to GMusic much less than I want to (and believe me, with the queue of albums I have bookmarked to listen through, I really do want to listen a lot). This extension seems like the next best thing.

A couple of suggestions I have off the top of my head after using it for a few minutes:

1) Would be nice to have an option to show the artist/song title/album block above the controls. That way, the bubble can be dragged all the way down to the bottom of the browser window for less obtrusiveness.

2) Would be nice to have either a show/hide toggle (could show up as an extension button in Chrome's title bar area), or an option to increase/decrease the transparency. I actually think the transparency while the bubble is active (i.e., orange-colored) is quite nice, but it ends up being more intrusive because of its darker color when inactive/gray.

I would love to spend some time on it and make it more customizable. Some suggestions, especially variable opacity would make it much more flexible but I really don't have time to spend on it at the moment. I will in the future though, for sure.

Just a sidenote, if you go to the options, you can choose to completely hide the icon when it's grey, that way it won't be there covering stuff up needlessly.

Thanks for the feedback though, I'll keep them in mind for sure.

Ok...why the hell does "I'm feeling lucky" station always pick one genre of music and make the whole playlist from that? If you load the station again you can get a different genre.

I listen to like 4 country songs maybe and half the time the I'm feeling lucky station will be all country. It's really damn stupid.

I want to be able to have a station based on my auto thumbs up playlist but for some imaginary reason we can't do that.

Really annoying that playing tracks on my mobile doesn't add to the play count when I access my account on my PC.

Hmm? I'm pretty sure it does this to my music. Maybe it doesn't do it for music I've uploaded though, not 100% sure.

Are you playing music on your phone that you have uploaded to Play Music and not just sideloaded to your phone?

I haven't checked specifically, but since I don't listen to music on my PC much, I am almost positive it keeps track of play counts because I have many songs with over 100.

Is there a way to scrobble what you play on IOS with Google Play Music? The official Last.FM 'Scrobble' app only looks at what plays through itunes.
