Google Play Music All Access

Had Spotify for a long time but got tired of the shitty UI and went over to Rdio. Love it but if this gets a dedicated iOS app, i'm there!

Most annoying issue so far is not being able to add a song from the radio "station" I'm listening to to one of my playlists easily. I have to go to the artist's page and add the song from there. Am I missing something simple?

Still, cancelled Spotify today and enjoying All Access for now.

edit: nevermind, you can add radio songs to a playlist directly from the radio playlist. Yay!

Been using this all day. It's a great service although it could ue some tweaks. If I'm searching for an artist, say Paramore, once I've clicked on their profile I should be given the option to listen to all of their music. in its current form, All Access only allows you to choose an album and go from there. I'd also like if they brought back the "recent music" option.

How does the Radio Station thing work? I actually haven't tested that out yet. Is it like Pandora?

Seems that way so far. If I choose an artist's radio station, it randomly plays music that is related (I guess), but not music specifically by that artist. You can skip however often you'd like, but I've noticed that even though I thumbs down a track, if I listen to that radio station again, they'll play the same track at some point.

I've also noticed that if it plays a track you already own, it will show whatever rating you originally gave it. Needs some work though, I've noticed album art will be wrong for tracks that I've already changed to a custom picture.

Hmm, that sounds interesting. I'll have to take a look at it later.

The music selection doesn't seem to be quite as good as Spotify for me. I hope they're still working out more deals with record labels. Also, I'm finding the visual interface a little annoying on a desktop. I wish there was a way to simplify the interface so I don't have to scroll through a bunch of big cards or click so much to view all the albums from an artist.

this, rdio, spotify

somebody compare them for me GO

rdio wins because it has bberry client

Rdio lets you stream through the web for just $5 a month. It's a great service for people who listen at work and don't have restrictions on this stuff.

Plus it lets you scrobble.

It read $7.99 but the Google Play email let me know it was a free trial.

Read the print closer. It will tell you $7.99 will be charged once your 30 day trial is up. You can cancel anytime between then. Today it will be 0, and for the next 30 days.

They require a credit card because usually people get comfy and lazy when the 30 day trial is up and will continue using the service because it's convenient. People are a little less willing when 30 days are up and it says HEY MAN YOU OWE ME 8 BUCKS.

PS+ and most other subscription services do it also.

Man I want to like this, but it's buggy as hell so far. Whatever is showing up through the web browser is completely inconsistent with the Android app. Edits to the meta data don't sow up, some albums are showing up as split in the app, but not in the browser, some albums are showing up in the app but not at all in the browser. It's all over the place..

Just noticed that when you start a radio station it actually shows you what's queued to be played. Am I correct in that none of the other 'radio' apps (Pandora, LastFM) do that? That's pretty cool.

I kind of wish this was a standalone desktop app though. I don't like having a dedicated music player being a web page that I'm very likely to accidentally close.

Awesome! Can't wait to si-

... Seriously? Canada gets shafted again? They don't like our money?!

Found another flaw on the Android version. There's no "recent" option anymore, meaning you can't find out what music you recently listened to or even added. This becomes a problem when you search for music on your device and it brings up music from All Access along with what's already on your device. Neither the Web Page nor the Android App have a feature that tells you "hey, this is already in your library." Instead, it lists the album art twice and you're left to figure it out for yourself.

If it hasn't been posted already, those of us with iOS can't access via browser because of DRM. It's done via Flash or something and since that isn't supported, no fancy all access for us yet. Had to bring in my Nexus 7 to work today to listen to new cds I added.

Also, the cds show up on Melodies on my iPhone but you can't play them. That Google Music app needs to be here stat. As it is, I don't know if I'll end up continuing to pay for this if I can't use it on my phone.

In the web version you can switch to HTML5, I don't suppose that would work?

My girlfriend and I share a Spotify account. I wouldn't mind switching to Google Music completely because I have a lot of mixed tapes and hate having to jump between the two services to listen to everything. The only issue I really see is can two people really share a Google Music account? I mean I assume I could give her my account info but I'd rather not give her access to everything of mine Google.

Google is not shy of dumping any kind of product that makes them more then a few cents on to the apple store. I'm assuming some of the payment options have to be worked out with in-app purchases, but i have no doubt it will come out. Google isn't really fond of keeping things exclusive to android

So will they just have to make signing up for the service unavailable on the iOS version? If you can sign up in the app, Apple takes their share, correct?

I hope it does come to iOS soon, I'm sure a few of my iPhone using friends would want to get in at the discounted rate.

True, hopefully it happens soon. The new music app is really nice.

working fine here in NZ.

play store access is a mixed bag when it comes to region locks. thankfully the music app doesn't IP check at all ... it purely goes via the account status.

so get to the states web front end, and use a virtual credit card of yr choice, and yr set.

Left side-pane -> Playlists -> Last Added under Auto Playlists

How I wish Google gave a shit about more than a few countries in the world... Oh well.

(Don't give me the licensing excuse. Yes, I understand the music business is a bitch, but come on. Two damn years, and still just a handful of countries? And this is no little startup we're talking about here, it's the software behemoth Google. They should be capable of making this happen faster.)

man it doesn't even have Fugazi or most of the Mingus albums like spotify and rdio. farewell awkwardly titled streaming service.
