1. Loads faster
2. Popups just don't happen. Nor is there a popup about popups being blocked.
3. There aren't 10 different apps trying to clutter a toolbar with various ads.
4. Chrome combines the http address field with search, rather than having two (and one being too tiny).
5. Updates automatically including some addons like flash, whereas explorer must be done through windows update with a bunch of yes/no confirmations.

IE9 is a huge improvement. I'm guessing IE10 will eliminate the annoyances. Microsoft seems to be throwing heavy weight in making Windows 8 a mobile OS.

Loved Chrome since the beginning. Love that it updates itself with zero interaction from me. Although sometimes that means I don't know about new features right away.

I live and die by Firefox. I'm too paranoid to use a browser made by google because I'll always assume they're tracking me or storing my browser history/searches somewhere. Good to see a little more diversity though.

Well, it probably is, honestly. Good browser, though.

You'd be safe using Chromium, though.

Thanks for the detailed response. I have chrome and IE8 on my computer and they've always seemed so similar to me as to be nearly indistiguishable. I've never noticed any of the things you listed. But I'm not a power user.

I used Chrome when it first came out very fast but it was buggy and crashed all the time I figured hey it's a beta they'll fix it

I download chrome every few weeks to see if they did...as of last week...still buggy and crashes ALL THE DAMN TIME....I dunno if it's just me? or what
....fast as hell tho but I cannot depend on it to save my life

Firefox is perfection! I'd even put IE8 over chrome and IE9 is wayyyy better

I used to be diehard firefox user until I got my new computer in early March. I took a chance and went with chrome and I couldn't be more happier. I don't see myself going back to firefox anytime soon.

I loved Firefox up until I upgraded to Firefox 4. It freezes up constantly for some reason. I finally got fed up with it and tried out Chrome a few days ago and I'm really liking it so far. It'll probably remain my main browser of choice going forward.

You probably should have checked your add-ons.

I find that people mistakenly assume FF being slow is FF's fault, when the fault actually lies with the 20 add-ons they have running in the app. And instead of shutting down a good portion of those add-ons, they dump FF.

Eh, StatCounter's numbers are based on impressions rather than unique users, so they are going to be heavily skewed by heave users/early adaptors. Going by uniques chrome is around 10% or so.

They also don't track any of the big sites, so I'm not sure how accurate their numbers are going to be if they exclude the majority of the internet.

Convincing you would be like convincing my mom why Blu-Ray is better than DVD and asking how the hell can she NOT see the difference, lol. Nothing personal to you at all, it's just how I read that. Sometimes I have to step back and realize not everyone is obsessed with browsers, or cars :-D

Like any, my company pushes the IE mantra and was just approved to use or rather recommend users to download Firefox for our Wiki since IE is so dog slow. I use Chrome and have converted my entire team to Chrome. I've likely converted another group of users to Chrome once they saw how fast it was running on their machine. They then proceeded to downloaded on their home machine. Glad to see Chrome growing. Had not realized how much share it had.

You shouldn't need to download chrome more than once. It updates automatically with a scheduled task in Task Manager daily.

I have seen a bug lately where close window buttons stop working. Seems to happen with netflix/silverlight.

I still mainly use IE but I did just install Chrome not too long ago for secondary usage. One major thing I don't like is the way text looks on Chrome. Text is just so much more pleasant to read on IE.

Firefox seems to work better on my laptop for video streaming, so I stick with FF.

Probably a laptop issue, not a chrome thing.

I still use IE at work sometimes.

There are some work related websites that are only compatible with IE. So on that basis I would be classified as an IE user by some sites.

IE9 isn't terrible. It's usable, so at least it is an improvement on the previous iterations.

But my pet peeve is MS spell-check. Fuck that shit. It never gives me the word I have misspelled. I always end up googling my misspelling and letting the Overlord tell me what I was thinking. Works every fucking time.

I really love Chrome. There are a few things that I really want Google to add but they nailed so many things. Chrome extensions are so much better than Firefox' version (in that, when a new Chrome version comes out, they are fully compatible), sync is a godsend and as an android user the connectivity is very neat.

I still use IE8 for my bank and credit card websites, but that is only because whoever programmed those forgot that there are other browsers. Chrome and Firefox are not reliable with those sites :(

And out of curiosity, what is so great about Opera?

I almost entirely use Chrome, though I have to say that IE9 is pretty nice. I booted it up for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised.

I wonder when Google will finally fix some of the blatant bugs in Chrome.

ex: Chrome crashing when you want to print a page.

Also, I wish they would fix their PDF viewer. I hate how it's built in to the browser itself.

Other than that, it's a great browser, and I'm glad it's gaining market share.

Basically, PDF and Flash support are an important part of the modern internet, and Adobe products are a security clusterfuck. So Google took it on themselves to protect Chrome users from Adobe's incompetence.

Opera mobile/mini are the shizzle too.

Oh god, it sounds like I may need to move from firefox to chrome then.

I hate adobe and their malware like updaters and background persisting SH*T that won't go away even if you disable it in msconfig bootsequence.

Seriously. Who uses a mouse drop down? ctrl-t then start typing. So much quicker and easier.

I hate using a mouse for basic browsing. Serious question, but does IE allow for browsing the tabs through keyboard shortcuts? Firefox and Chrome are just alt+keypad to switch, but I've never figured it out in IE9.

Still prefer FF.


But that's mainly because I've put the most time in it making it look and act the way I like it, and because of habit. Both Chrome and Opera are more or less just as good, and if I put some time in those (searching right add-ons, ...) I could get adjust to them too I assume.

The most important thing is that right now I literally have no issues or annoyances with FF. It works as it should. Always.

yeah, i tried chrome for a while but firefox still feels more 'comfortable'. guess i'm just used to it after so many years.

Well deserved. Chrome is a fantastic browser. The only thing that sucks is when 'a page fails to load' and so do similar pages.

I'm glad this fantastic browser is becoming mainstream, even tech.noobies like my father and some of my friend started using it for the easy interface and its speed.

chrome became my main browser since release, but since ive got a new laptop with win7, i dunno why chrome become really unreliable, it crashed a lot while browsing most website, and some other it display web script. Thankfully GAF works 100% fine.

I haven't installed Chrome since I first installed it, and subsequently uninstalled it days later, whenever that was. All I know is my computer got a sudden "pause" about it when typing any text, especially if I was typing in the chrome browser.

That and it's kind of irrelevant to me when Firefox exists. Google have their thing, let them have that, Firefox have their thing, let them have that. Not really big on the whole "one guy consolidating everything" thing.

I like specialists.
