how do they willing try and pass a bill that actively pollutes the water and be like this is totally fine?

As was commented in another thread and by Ms. Galaxy, they're actual captain planet villians:

It's very obvious what they're doing to anyone with knowledge of this kind of tactic, but it's still so shitty. Can Obama issue an executive order about this? I'm not sure what kind of limitations that has or doesn't have, but if he can, he just needs to before he leaves office. This is a matter of health and potentially could affect everyone. It needs to be above this bullshit.

How in the blue FUCK are riders even a thing?

What the fuck is wrong with your politcal system, America? It's like you looked at democracy and decided to break it in as many ways as possible while still allowing the public to think they have some sort of control.

Well, they are a necessary part of our political system, generally used to fund pet projects in states where the representative would normally be opposed to the main policy being effected by the bill. This is not that though.

The Zika issue for Republicans is simply mind boggling to me. There is no upside to it, but a ton of potential downside occurring (possibly during the general election). If they pass the paltry sum of money, not only are they doing the right thing, not only do they look responsible, but they don't have to worry about any political blowback. Instead, they are delaying funding an essential public health initiative when the President and the Democrats have been sounding the alarm on this since January. If Zika hits as hard as the CDC has warned, then it will only be the GOP to blame (despite this bullshit peddling of a bill with poison pills).

I honestly don't understand why they are doing this. It doesn't make any sense logically, morally, or politically.

The whole point was to force the Democrat to vote down because of rider garbage that the Republicans knew would set them off.

Can we really say 'yuck' to both parties, considering that the Republicans wanted to allow possible contamination of drinking water, take away reproduction rights from women and take health care from Americans all in one law? Nevermind the Confederate flag thing, which seemed like them adding salt to the injury.

Can we? Many already do. Purity tests are bullshit because of the mindset that choosing the lesser of two evils means you're still choosing evil. It's reductionist bullshit that exacerbates an already difficult legislative process. This is why Obama always stresses for people to vote, regardless if you don't like a certain candidate because you don't agree with him or her 100%. Progress is progress and without votes we get situations like 2010.

Remember when the IRS didn't provide non-political tax-free status quickly enough to Tea Party groups?

I wish like hell we could pass a law that states nothing can be attached to a bill that has nothing to do with the orginal bill.

Seriously. Riders make no fucking sense and just exist for bullshit to either get in the front door or to kill otherwise good bills.

Both sides try to sneak shit like this into things, and then use it further to claim that sides aren't working together. It's genius fuckery that should be reported clearly to the bafoon masses.

"What the fuck, Democrats voted against Zika funding?"
"No Jimmy, the Re--"
"Fuck those liberals!"
"Yes Jimmy.."

That's the cycle we're stuck in.

This is why we need LINE ITEM VETO!!

We need both of these badly. Politics will always be politics, but Congress needs reform in order to actually function with some amount of efficiency and towards the public good. The divisiveness between the parties that's grown in the past 20 years has made political maneuvers like riders much more common.

These are the same people who blame the EPA for not doing their jobs after trying to stop the EPA from doing their jobs.

The whole point was to force the Democrat to vote down because of rider garbage that the Republicans knew would set them off.

I understand that, but they could have accomplished that with any one of those provisions. Adding a repeal of Obamacare AND a Confederate flag provision AND a abortion restrictions AND a repeal of clean water laws makes their attempt SO transparent that it will ultimately fail because the Dems can and are pointing out all of the ludicrous riders. Normally, for riders to be politically successful, they need to be something minor and something that sound good to the general public (i.e. Republicans not liking language in defense funding bill and attaching A tax cut for average Americans and then call out the Dems for shooting down A) funding the military and B) a small tax cut for average Americans).

This is too heavy handed.

They do realize that if there's a Zika epidemic in America that public opposition to abortion is going to get decimated, right?

Like, if you want to play politics, that's one thing, but at least do a better job of it.

Fuck the Republican party, in total. If you support and vote for these fucking evil pieces of shit, feel shame.

They don't give a fuck about Zika because it's currently not a White America problem. It's the same thing as the Ebola outbreak in African countries a few years ago. The second that a single case in America happens all these idiots will run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Yep I'm going scorched earth on any Republicans at this point. Like fuck this both parties shit along with but my Republican friends aren't assholes even though they support an evil party cuz reasons.

Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, blasted Democrats for blocking the Senate bill.

“It’s time for our friends to start worrying less about pleasing outside political groups and start worrying more about actually helping the Americans who are counting on us,” he said.

Mitch McConnell, you slimy asshole... I don't even know where to begin with him besides "delete him from legislature."

Where are the GAF Republicans? What is the explanation for this? What are your thoughts on this? Gauging the silence... I'm presuming GAF Republicans are supporting these actions of the GOP.

Do they ever post anything except cries about being persecuted by GAF's liberal hivemind? Because I can't recall seeing many instances of any of them actually defending shitty Republican positions

Too busy dealing with important issues such as http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=1247748

Those traitorous sons of bitches need to get kicked out of the country.

I'd just say that those traitorous sons of bitches need to understand that they are traitorous sons of bitches.
Even setting aside the whole slavery thing, the Confederate flag is literally a symbol of treason against the United States.

But of course something something "states' rights"

States' Rights!!! ...
to sell and own slaves

Just comically evil.

Where was Rubio fighting this horseshit? Florida is first in line to get fucked.
Here was his reply:

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2016/06/29/us/politics/congress-zika-funding.html

Senator Marco Rubio, Mr. Nelson’s Republican counterpart from Florida, blamed Democrats’ political motives for sinking the bill. “It’s a talking point that they want to take into the July Fourth recess, unfortunately,” Mr. Rubio said.
No surprise.
