Toho announced an amazing DVD box set of every Godzilla film called Godzilla Final Box. The inital set will consist of all 27 Godzilla films with a place for Godzilla Final Wars when released next summer, and 3 bonus DVDs including the American version of Godzilla, King of the Monsters, Legend of Godzilla, and Godzilla Fantasia. Also included is a pictorial booklet covering 50 years of Godzilla, poster repros, and some kind of vinyl Godzilla head sculpted Fuyuki Shinada of GMK fame. The set will cost 95,000 yen or 99,750 with tax. Discs are region 2 and will not likely have Engish subtitles. Pre-order deadline for Godzilla Final Box is on November 3, 2004 with the last deadine on January 11th, 2005 with a sale date of April 22, 2005. Toho's Godzilla website suggests the first deadline to make sure you are able to secure a set. More information on pre-ordering when available, probably by fall.
I guess youre unfamiliar with just how much R2 DVDs can cost. 1000 dollars for a set this big seems pretty cheap when you see how much many other Japanese DVDs go forJonny said:did you say $1000? This shit isn't even worth $100.. is that a typo?

guessing its both...Jonny said:so is it $1000 to import it (waste of fucking money) or $1000 dollars in japan (huge waste of fucking money)?
dont remember all the details but that sounds about right, scola said:Was he simply cut in for the US release (to make it more palatable to a western audience I assume)
If you're talking about Japanese DVDs, then no, it's not because importing is factored in. A typical DVD costs $30 (budget price) to $60 on Japanese store shelves.Semjaza Azazel said:Isn't that usually figuring import prices though? This sounds as if it's the standard price in Japan. 95,000 yen...
There's not even anything cool about the packaging...
Since they specifically mention the 5% Japanese consumption tax, this is the price for Japan.Jonny said:so is it $1000 to import it (waste of fucking money) or $1000 dollars in japan (huge waste of fucking money)?
