Amir0x said:The problem with this argument, which is always the problem when relating the handheld industry to the console one, is that handhelds are portable while consoles are not. Nobody is going to lug their massive Xenon from one place to the next to get their portable experience - they're either going to get DS or PSP. It's that simple. So while certainly the visual luster will lose a bit of its charm after the Xenon/PS3/GC rush it'll still be a major factor in determining which portable someone wants since it offers different opportunities. First off, I've always maintained that both PSP and DS can and will co-exist in the marketplace because they offer completely different ideals.
I know that comparing the portable to console industry is apples to oranges, but we have to admit at some point that the PSP is trying to bring over the console consumers to the portable side. Sony is targeting the PS2 consumer, trying to get them to purchase the PSP. All I'm saying is there is no guarantees in regards to sales next fall if the Xenon is launched. It could take some of the spotlight off the PSP. Nintendo was smart to release the DS and have this Christmas season to themselves. Why is it so hard for some people to admit to this?
