Gran Turismo 6 could evolve into Gran Turismo 7 when it hits PS4, says Yamauchi

jesus, keep the gt vs forza stuff out of this. particularly the stupid as hell troll gt vs forza posts.

I would be really dissapointed if GT6 or 7 or whatever they release for PS4 don't have remodeled tracks and they get rid of 2d tress and add a fuckton of detail.

What we know is that they've built their new engine with the PS4 in mind and several of their key programmers played a major role in the building of the console. Plus it was mentioned at gamescom that all of Sony's studios are working on something for the console. And Kaz mentioned at gamescom that it'll take a minimum of a year for GT7 to be released. So if he's already saying something like that then i'd think it was on track to hit in 2015 as many have speculated. We'll probably see it at E3 next year or TGS at the latest.

I would be personally very surprised if PD hasn't at least started initial development on PS4.

But they can't say that publicly when they have a PS3 game to sell for this holiday season.

Gran Turismo has turned into bloated crap.

I have to applaud PD's ambition but GT5 was the straw that finally broke the camel's back ... far too many costly licences that were under-utilised and poorly thought out [Top Gear/Nascar/WRC], I just hope the same fate doesn't befall the FIA GT3 licence that is looking likely to be included in GT6

You know... Their 2D trees work. There's nothing worse than a badly modeled 3D tree.

I always thought that if you had time to check out the scenery you weren't driving fast enough!

Nothing wrong with the 2D tress ... I just we could see a little more detail and 'life' trackside!

I'm sure you'll get your 3D trees on the PS4. But i'm not sure what people wanted PD to do this gen. Was there anyone else even attempting 60fps, 16 cars on track with day/night cycles and weather effects on current-gen hardware? If they had to go with 2D trees to achieve that then so be it.

Well hopefully they've been working on GT PS4, because if only GT6 took them three years to make then they are truly inefficient developer.

I would rather have a great looking game with no hiccups and shit that pulls me out of the game with graphical inconsistencies. If they have to use their old assets from 6 to make 7 and make it great, I am OK with that.

I just hope it releases relatively soon. GT5 delays were unbearable (yes I know no "official" date was announced but it was constantly hinted then pushed).

RELEASE IN E NEXT TWO YEARS AND WE ARE GOOD.

It would be nice if "weather" and "day night cycles" were throughout the game and not just sporadic on very few select courses.

Comparing Forza to GT is absurd. Gran Turismo is completely in a league of it's own. Heck GT5 alone sold almost as much as all the Forzas combined. That's like comparing Killzone to Halo, both are great games but they are in entirely different leagues. I doubt PD cares when or where Forza launches, they work on their own time as Forza isn't really competition

There was a reason a separate thread was created for it way back when - people were banned for not keeping that sort of crap confined in there.

Sure, but it's better to at least have it on some courses than none.

I guess. I got to high 20's in GT level wise and I really don't remember night or weather.

Actually I think 30 was about when I quit. Buying the Ferrari F1 only to find out I couldn't use it anywhere really burned me.

Thats if everything goes according to plan, but as we know, with PD and Kaz nothing goes according to plan. We know that cars are scalable and future proof, but if you see at racers all around (pcars forza driveclub) hell, they all look good.
The bar for cars has been raised high enough and everyone has caught up to PD. However PD has lagged behind in other areas (sounds, track and trackside detail to name a few) they will have to really step up in other areas just keep up to the competition this time.

Ive never hated on 2D trees if done well like in Nurburgring but cardboard textures will not be acceptable anymore.

Basically, it's being targeted as GT7 internally. All things well, we'll see it by 2015. They've been working on whilst doing GT6. If they become too ambitious, it'll be GT7 Prologue essentially. We're not getting GT6 PS4; too much of a marketing and perspective mess. Next 6-8 months will be pretty crucial in terms of determing release.

I really, really hope you're right. I know your information is from great sources, we just fear that while true, PD might miss some targets and deliver the game late again.

I still have that Kazunori presentation pic at TGS framed in my head with the GT5 project having a release in 2008 IIRC.

What about my theory on releasing this late on PS3 hurting the brand in the long term? Nobody on the inside feels the same way?

(But i know PD does have freedom to do what they feel it's best).

What I don't get about the "standard" tracks is that there is no authentic source material so they don't need to do photography, they don't need to replicate anything and no one is going to care if the materials are not where they need to be. So why couldn't they copy the track layout and go nuts with populating the track side details with their next gen assets.

The trees in SPA for example and the road textures, take those and apply them to a blueprint of Deep Forrest. Hell, randomly generate the thing. It seems like a no brainer to me. And for PS4 the same concept applies. The track layout is already finished for GT original tracks so compared to real life circuits it would be so much easier to make imo.

Did releasing God of War 2 so late on PS2 hurt that brand? No. I think you're making shit up out of nothing, there's no reason at all to believe that will happen.

Dude, PS3 was backwards compatible back them. Many people bought and played the game but they were already on PS3.

Not the case here.

I did said in some other thread that the PSP releases helped create franchise fatigue for God of War and i still believe it.
