Gran turismo 7 - Powered by PS5

Its starting to make a lot more sense to me why Yamauchi was mad about Driveclub existing,no doubt the driving and physics will give sim fans and purists what they want but for most car fans seeing the cars recreated in jaw dropping detail and fun driving is what we want. PS5 needs its own Horizon and Driveclub could have been that
Sony needs to resurrect Motorstorm. I'm not into racing games, but Pacific Rift (1 and Apocalypse, too, but to a lesser extent) had me hooked for a while.

You praised the game while putting down other games. Classic console warrior move.

I didn't put down other games, I said of all the racing games this is the one with the most visual class. Being offended by this is text book console warrior reaction. Your laughing emoji is just further proof of it by the way, stay bothered.

I'm not a petrol head or a car enthusiast like some are so watching a replay is something I would rarely do and so to have ray-tracing limited to only replays is a missed opportunity. Being a cross-gen title I think the real-time improvements compared to GT Sport are too subtle for me to be impressed. I heard the driving physics and the damage model are much improved though.

I suspect he was reacting to the part where you said the other games looked like they were designed by teenagers.

Real races have a penalty too… your own life.
It is just that a game can’t simulate you dying or others dying because you are driving incorrectly that these soft penalty exists.

Without that driving in games should be a completely mess.
Then you must remove any references to realism in this game. I like aggressive racing.

It's my opinion, most racing games either look visually designed for teenagers or are simply too bland. GT has managed to develop a presentation and aesthetic that is both appealing and classic.

I bet you 100$ the guy wasn't bothered that I said that about other racing games on Playstation. You think this is about defending the crew? need for speed? etc cmon And all because of poor reading comprehension to boot.

Not sure why people are calling out those who are criticizing the trees. Part of the charm of a racing game is its atmosphere. Otherwise, you can just have flat fields and then achieve all the RT, 4K 120fps you want. A believable world around the circuit is also important in many racing games.
nah people are getting called out for hyperbole borderline trolling.

game still in development. and the picture everyone latches on is from a track with multiple configurations... which means they will have to fix that if you are driving the reverse configuration

Watched it last night in 4K/60 on my TV and it looks very nice. The smooth framerate combined with all the little nuanced car physics stood out.

More than ever a quality screen makes an absolute difference.

A lot of people watch these YT videos on some sub par lcd screen on their budget phones/monitors, so much is lost.

Different people will have different opinions. Nothing wrong with that. If people have a problem with your opinions and preferences, then that's their problem.

GT Sport isn't a bad game. It's just a bad game for me personally due to the way the game was designed. I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain the various tricks and shortcuts developers take when making games. But when it comes to racing games? While many of them will give you the perception that you're driving around a track. In reality though, that might not actually be the case. You just won't usually notice the difference because of whatever process the developers used tricks your brain into seeing it as though you are.

No matter how much I tried to get used to it... for some odd reason my brain always perceived GT Sport as your car being a somewhat permanent image in the middle of the screen, and the road actually being the image that moves. With it running along underneath the car. The driver appearing to do little more than point the car right or left.

That's not a knock on GT Sport. It's a me problem. While all racing games use various tricks to give users the impression they're doing something they aren't, or at least in the way they perceive it. For whatever reason... When it comes to GT Sport, the trick doesn' t work for me. I've tried to just play it in the hopes that it would click at some point. Yet every time, my brain sees right through the same smoke and mirrors that fool me in other games.

I'm Just hoping that their next GT games accomplishes it's goal.

Except each time it is pretty obvious when it is gameplay and when it is replay. When they show real gameplay they did not even try to leave the cockpit view and even then there was pop ins, akwards trees and so on.
The "awkward trees" are in replay looking back at a car. What do you think changes between replay and gameplay here? There is no raytracing in replay or gameplay so I'd be interested to know what you think is changing with absolutely no knowledge about this game.

420 cars and 90 tracks is hundreds more cars than I expected, and dozens more tracks than I expected. I've got a feeling this game will be popular for a long time.

90 tracks isn't 90 different tracks, that's counting different configurations and reverse layouts. It's not really all that more than GT Sport has. This is the worst part about GT7 for me, lack of new tracks.

But there are at least 3 new tracks (we know about) compared with GTS.

Edit - Fixed number of GTS tracks / locations.

Total Locations: 29
Total Variations: 84

Good to know.

Still excited for it.

lol it really is just putting a 3d model on top of a static photograph..

hahaha - how can this even be called a feature?
Someone never used Scapes but is dying to shit on the game.

Those are fully 3D pre-rendered backgrounds with several layers that are reflected on the cars. Think the most advanced Resident Evil: RE backgrounds.

Car nuts spend hours on the mode, tweaking dozens of settings to get the perfect shot. There are thousands of real life locations you pick from, and place the car however you want using the pre-rendered 3D environment.

Richard Leadbetter mentioned it in the DF Retro PS4 reveal video, don't remember the timestamp. He was specifcally mad about it making their then upcoming GT6 look even more dated if I recall correctly.
It was John Linneman who said that he heard a rumor about Yamauchi being upset about the existence of Driveclub on PS4. They flavored it with the reminder that Gran Turismo 6 released on PS3 after the PS4 launched.

GT6 was indeed sent to die but that was nothing to do with DriveClub.
It was a game releasing to PS3 after PS4 launched.

4 new confirmed (Daytona, Deep Forest, Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring), 1 almost confirmed (teased Apricot Hill). Few other discovered in database so probably launch in patches after release.

I don‘t get it. Gran Turismo never was the prettiest and best looking game. Always had a steril art look and style. It’s a main stream driving game sitting right between arcade and simulation. It has some very pretty car models and the tracks are designed for the driving experience. Differs from Forza Motorsport in it’s presentation and does some things worse and some better. Looking at the gameplay and the replays/photomode there is a gap between visuals. But who the hell cares? These consoles have technical limitations, start to accept this fact. There are always some cuts in visuals. Fuck off some trees. It’s a driving game and not a forest simulator.

Don't get me wrong i am a PS and GT fan, but Forza seemed to dominate in every aspect.
opposite, gt sport dominate in such basics features as wheel support and multiplayer, also graphics is better than fm7 (df comparison video), new fm has to improve in many aspects tough its nextgen only so visualy could be briliant

You mean FM not FH. And the next Forza Motorsport is next gen only.
