It's based off a guy who loved Gran Turismo so much he became a professional race car driver. A car film can be fun so I can see this working on some level if they play it straight like Ford vs Ferrari
EDIT: Neil Blompkamp is directing, not sure how I feel about that. His movies always have some edge that stop it from being as great as it could be, hopefully it's just the editing of the trailer.

I am if only because I love car movies but the trailer editing and finding out who the director is has lowered my anticipation for it, even when I think back to Ford v Ferrari I wonder how many of the scenes were real vs CGI.
Sure Days of Thunder is really crappy movie but those race scenes using real vehicles (thank you Tom Cruise for ALWAYS using the real thing) really added to thrill of the movie.

What I don't get is how you go from gran turismo to movie....There's no scenario or characters, so it has to become a rise of the champion movie which will be one if not the most common trope in movies.
