Can't find any notification as to why. So soon after the credit card payment processor mandated purge has a lot of folks speculating this is related

It feels a little premature to assume that this is part of the Collective Shout thing, particularly since the other games are still live...

But if it turns out to be the case, hopefully the "it's just some stupid smut games" crowd quickly sees how fucking stupid that position is.

I mean, you can pay hookers, have sex with them, and then kill the hookers to get your money back in GTA.

The only reason GTA wouldn't be targeted is because they're scared of the backlash it would draw, but it's completely in line with their rationale for banning any other games.

I've finished GTA 1 and 2 and the best way to play it is on DOSBox since you can use save state.

GTA 1 doesn't age well at all, its miserable to play, way too difficult, one hit kill and the armor doesnt really help, the police are insane, and the map layout is terrible because its separated by a bunch of bridges.

GTA 2 is what I recommend, its more inline with modern gta mission design, you can save after every mission, its easier because you actually have a proper health and body armor this time, and the graphics is actually pretty good. some mission is still very difficult though

Right, but again - the other GTAs (all of which are obviously far more realistic than GTA2+) are still available. Why just pick this one? You're getting the negative PR and none of the supposed benefit.

It's been delisted for years, as is the original Grand Theft Auto, this could be a case where it was accidentally relisted but pulled down again like Midnight Club 2 (another Rockstar title) was a few years back.

Edit: And the reason it's delisted, along with the original GTA, is because they both feature game breaking bugs on newer OS's (Windows 7 at the time) and Rockstar support is shit on PC so they didn't patch it.

The best way to play those games is on a PlayStation.

I tried finding these on GoG not too long ago. Don't know why they don't just throw them on there for some $$$.
I actually like these more than the 3D ones. We don't get a lot of great isometric versions of this often. Probably why I loved The Precinct and Shakedown Hawaii.
Anyone know any others I should play? Shakedown Hawaii is currently $3 on steam. Highly recommend.

As I mentioned above, both Grand Theft Auto (and Grand Theft Auto: London) and GTA2 have game breaking bugs on any OS after Windows 7, Rockstar don't want to patch the games and chose to just delist them. Even though they can work if bundled with something like DOSbox instead.

Both have not aged well due to the top down view, it's difficult to see where you are going due to the low resolution and draw distance and you end up bumping into cars constantly. The lack of a map means you're often failing missions due to getting lost, since they only give you a crude arrow for direction. If any games are candidates for a complete remake, it's the first two GTA games. The original Driver has aged much better, despite that damn tutorial mission.

Makes sense, the entire game from start to finish is so predictable, games like that shouldn't exist.

Well, opinions are like assholes. I have amazing memories of playing this game on local LAN back in the day with my neighborhood friends. Placing mines all over the map so nowhere was safe to drive. Just good fun.

GTA 1 aged poorly and these days I'd probably drop it after about 30 minutes, but Rockstar should definitely outsource GTA 2 and Chinatown Wars to have them ported to modern consoles. They were both great.

I agree, by today standard both doesn't age well, but at least I actually had fun with GTA 2, some of the mission is actually pretty good. while GTA 1 is a complete slog for me. But hey at least now I can say I've completed every gta ever 😂.

Oh also I recommend the top down GTA Advance, a lot of the mechanic is based on GTA 3. there's actual car physics where your can flip which is ahead of its time for a GBA game. safehouse, gun shop, hidden package its all here.
