Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed to May 26, 2026

We'll never see a GTA being a launch title. They love milking double-dippers so much.
Yeah realistically they'll target maximum milk.

Fall 2026 - PS5
Fall 2027 - PS6 remaster
Fall 2028 - PC
Fall 2035 - PS7 remaster
Fall 2038 - Switch 3 Campaign only port

Nah, that already happened, and it's called concord.
Concord failure was not a surprise. GTA 6 failure will be. It might sell a ton but that doesn't mean it will be a good game at all. I predict user scores to be around 3/10.

Hear me out, I wouldn't even be surprised if it slipped to q4 2026. Next gen will be the best place to play it at this rate.

Nice, I can wait to buy a PS5 Pro until next year.

2025 is going to be wild, everyone is going to want to get their stuff out before the year end now.

Because their other games are all terrible, especially their last major title RDR2.
Pretty much this.

R* puts out high quality games, regardless.

From GTA to RDR, Bully, Manhunt, Table Tennis even

If they put their team on something, it will pretty much always be of good quality.

You guys are a good representation of why I am right. You are placing impossible high expectations to a game nobody knows anything about yet.

Has any GTA game been anything but a masterpiece of its time? (main line games, even though the spin offs and hand held games were good too)

GTA 3 invented a genre
GTA Vice City invented story telling that was amazing (Miami in the 80's oh man dat neon)
GTA:SA was absolutely beyond massive and was what R* wanted all along
GTA 4: Dem physics and a "next gen" fully realized NYC with also amazing story
GTA V: Well it's GTA V. Goated

GTA VI will be fully realized Miami and tons of side shit and wacky GTA shit to do and be a masterpiece

Crazy how we just randomly get GTA6 release date out of the fucking blue like this

Seems like Sony and others knew in advance, otherwise Ghosts 2 release date would not have been confirmed so soon

GTA V released on September 7, 2013. That was two console generations and about 36 graphics cards ago.

They should've dropped another trailer at least. I've little faith in them anymore anyway, so whatever.

They're probably just aiming to repeat the double dipping they did with GTA5 on PS3 and PS4.

That could actually be the case. But will it work this time around? I dunno. GTA6 is gonna be expensive compared to 5, and T2 probably won't put it on sale (or into sub services) nearly as often as GTA5, either.

I'm not expecting GTA6 to sell as much as 5 did, but it's probably still gonna do at least 150 million lifetime units. Cross-gen, of course.

This is the opposite of a shadow drop. Are they trying to dethrone the king of delays, Duke Nukem Forever?

GTA6 compared to Duke Nukem Forever. The day has come.

I think it'll get delayed till Christmas 2027 when the PS6 comes out.

10% chance PS6 comes out Late 2027. 2028 seems much more likely at this point. The next Xbox devices could come out in 2027, tho.

A longer wait for PC sigh...

Y'all got plenty of exclusives to pass the time.

Increased Hardware prices AND no GTA for the holidays means this will be a disastrous year for Xbox for sure.

No shit, XBS could do barely ~ 2 million global for the entire year, potentially less.

If I am Sony, 0% chance I increase prices this year.

If they were smart, not ran by Totoki, and not obsessed with profit-margins-at-all-costs shareholders.

Unfortunately that isn't quite the case so....50% chance it happens.

I AM picking up some type of current gen console, just for GTA6, IF Sony is smart and doesn't raise them, maybe I can catch a holiday deal on a Pro...

This game can be as "woke"as they want it to be and its still gonna sell like hotcakes

Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't paying attention
The thing is, this game has to sell over 200m copies, if being woke even takes away 30% of its sales, thats 60m copies left on the table, u think top guys at rockstar gonna be ok leaving that kind of pure profit on the table or rather instead make sure game is loved like all previous gta games in the series?
They already got winning formula no other current game has, they will not wanna fuck it up no matter what :)

The biggest problem with this is that it's releasing at the end of the console's life cycle.

What a waste.

The game is going to look great I'm sure, but a year after it comes out we're going to have new consoles hitting the market and even average games will probably look much better than GTA 6. Then we'll have to wait 2 years for some kind of dumb remaster while they take another decade and a half to make GTA 7.

I also find it funny that they talk about the hype being humbling. There's not much hype at all. What exactly is there to be hyped about? A 2.5-year-old trailer that will probably not look like or represent hardly anything that we get in the final product.

You are def waaaaay overestimating how big of an improvement the next gen consoles are going to be. As I've been saying in the other threads, at best the PS6 is going to be what the PS5 Pro should have been.

Almost May of 2025 and no word on the game at all. We got one (1) trailer back in December of 2023, and crickets since. Not even a screenshot. Clearly many, many people are excited for the game. But I'm losing confidence that it will come this year. A delay feels almost inevitable.

So what the hell is up? Is GTA 6 in development hell? Are they truly taking their time to make sure the marketing hits? Or just applying eeeeeextra polish? What gives?

My bitching is vindicated.

Predictable, but sad nonetheless. It makes me worry that the game is in rough shape, despite the long dev cycle it's already had to this point. We will see in May 2026 hopefully ;_;

They could at least give us a screenshot or two for our trouble.

Makes me wary of getting the game at launch. There has to be a reason they haven't been confident in showing us more of the game. When the game finally launches, even with the marketing hype and additional trailers/screenshots, it would probably be best to wait a few months to purchase.

I completely agree. The lack of any media for 2.5 years is troubling. Hype is nearly non existent, excitement is still there but that's my hype.
