Grand Theft Auto: Online |OT| The Stimulation Has Began!

So I was able to make a character with Marston as dad, etc, watched the intro, and then it got stuck at the first race, saying "Launching Session". Now I can't get back in/

and were lucky, I failed to get online for 2 hours this morning on 360 and then had to "leave" for work (working at home today)

playing a game while "working at home" - renegade choice
reading and posting on GAF - paragon choice
 
So i have installed the patch go to my game try to load my still blank online character screen and it goes to black... it sits there and I have to reload the game.

EDIT: nevermind had to actually create my character first
 
I got in long enough around 7 AM to get my character created but then had server issues. Not even sure if it saved it either. Had to come to work so hopefully I can at least get in tonight at some point.

BTW, PS3 version and in the US...
 
Knew servers would be shit from the moment they softened the blow last week saying how overwelmed they were. Main reason I wasn't rushing to hop on yet since servers will be bad for probably a few days.

I'm wondering who actually played a online game at launch let alone anything MP related because some of these post right now are hilarious.
 
If the servers are under pressure already, I won't expect anything to be stable till at least Monday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be a complete mess.
 
After giving up because of the car race glitch, I just recently tried again and found out my character got deleted.....

I drove around and got my stats up with that character, too. Ugh, not touching this game again till everything's fixed.
 
Now, I haven't even turned on the console, cause hey, I'm at work, but looking at the stream of players playing, and it looks like it runs great. Seems like it's the initial login attempts that's killing it.

its not deleted, it just wont load from the server.
 
So people are free to use whichever aim mode they want, with no separation of sessions depending on it? Well, that means the snap-on auto-aim mode will be the only viable option, as you will be at a huge disadvantage otherwise. Sucks, since free aim is so much more fun and rewarding.

I can't get past the race, my guy just walks automatically to the car then I get a connection error. How did you not get into the car?
 
Might delete the multiplayer patch from my PS3 until they fix the issues it has had on the single player mode. Problem is, I have saved (overwritten) my save game since installing the update... will it still load ok if I delete the update I wonder?

Personally, I wouldn't risk it.
 
So... I'm on PS3 and after creating my character it kicked me out.
Now every time I try to go into the online it says something about the Rockstar cloud being down, whereas before it would take like a minute or so me I've me a host error.
Is this happening to someone else? The error message is almost instantaneous.

The only thing you can try is go to the pause menu, go to the online tab and choose solo.
 
Maybe me having Jury Duty in a few minutes is a good thing? I won't have to suffer through this specifically.
 
wait what! people are saying the patch effects the single player game? Negatively I mean...(I mean regular single player not multiplayer in solo mode)
 
Wow, so in order to play a deathmatch or a team deathmatch, you have to play with the people in your world? Meaning if no one wants to play, you can't play? That sucks.

When I first booted the online portion up it had HUGE pop in's on the textures, way worst then the main game, I assume its just the start.

Didn't see what effect it had on the SP but after that the game looked pretty normal, with the occasional teleport from other people.
